  • This is now ringing the devil’s doorbell. We had this last 3 years ago ( Papies 92 and young) but in this occasion it was just beautiful and dare we say at peak on the fruit/secondary scale. Beautiful nose just singing at this stage form the open of the bottle( opened and left to rest for a good hour) , smoky , spice and herbs all wrapped in an earthy evolved fruit mix. Event so beautiful and was just singing . 94 and definitely with a good decade ahead of it at this level.

  • Excellente bouteille vs celle de janvier 22.
Ouverte 30 min puis bue durant 2h1/2.
Nez typique de Syrah rhodanienne, violette, tapenade d’olives et épices.
En bouche, le fin est d’une belle finesse, soyeux, mais puissant quand même. Tanins polis et magnifique longueur.
    Sur son plateau.

  • Part of wine pairing at Pineapple & Pearls dinner. Served as the "anchor" wine, was exceptional, what one expects from a 17 years old cote rotie. Elegant, savory, lean, with interesting yet subtle notes of spice and floral popping in and out. Drink now.

  • Big fan. Nose shows black fruit & spice, a bit of florals, and a touch of meatiness. Silky, elegant palate still shows its dark fruit but there's a lot of savory, spicy depth & backend minerality. There's still tannin & acid to hold for longer, but I found this to be drinking very well.

(ROSTAING La Landonne COTE ROTIE) Rostaing Cote Rotie Dear Friends, I've mentioned Rostaing a number of times lately and the inference that I'm somehow disappointed with Rene's wine has not sat favorably with a number of our email list members. To clear things up, my point was that Rostaing changed his style circa 1991 to include far more new oak (a la Guigal) than in the past but I never intimated that the wines were poor (they're not) - they can be majestic if given the proper cellar time to allow the components to integrate. In a great vintage, Rostaing has the ability to deliver results that are among the most celestial in Ampuis but they are a different expression of the cosmos than, say, Dard et Ribo. As an olive branch to our most ardent Rostaing enthusiasts, here is a parcel of his top-drawer 2006's (a great year) with the finest provenance I can muster. If one word were to describe this set of wines it would be "elegance". As opposed to Guigal's single vineyard wines, both the Cote Blonde and La Landonne of Rostaing have an uncanny Burgundian character that is pervasive in nearly every growing season (not just 2006). Think Vosne-Romanee meets Cote Rotie and it will be the essence of what this cellar is all about (although the La Landonne has more power and masculinity than the Cote Blonde. Think of the Cote Blonds as Rostaing's La Mouline). Both wines are VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and EXTREMELY LIMITED: 2006 Renee Rostaing Cote Rotie "La Landonne" 2006 Renee Rostaing Cote Rotie "Cote Blonde" (If you hurry, PrimoVino in Colorado is offering 18 bottles of 2006 La Landonne for an unheard of $85 in the US and 2006 Cote Blonde for an even crazier $100 - both are well below cost: http://www.primovino.net/domainerenerostaingcoterotielalandonne2006rhonevalleyfrance750ml.aspx - if you miss out on those, Vins Rare has a few bottles of Cote Blonde around $110) If you are looking for further commentary on this set of 2006's, I urge you to look at TN's from the community, not just the critics. Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Rhone5110 Rhone5120
