Drank at a restaurant. Wasn’t sure if this would be approachable or not given how young it is but it was open and lovely right from the start. This was lovely juice and super classic Chambolle. Pale color for most Roumier I’ve had. Super fresh cranberry, cherry and strawberry. Floral and mineral. Lovely freshness and vibrancy. Seems really in keeping with the vintage but in a good way. Certainly lighter in weight than several Roumier wines I’ve had but this just floats across the palate. Damn I could drink this all day. Super tasty stuff. Not likely to make old bones but drinking well out of the gate.

Mittleres Rubinrot. Klasse! 2025-2040

While I know it is blasphemy to open this wine so young, the options on the wine list were all super young so I didn’t have a choice. To my surprise, this was already approachable. There is a ton going on in the glass. The light ruby color suggests it would be a more feminine wine. However, it is actually a beast. Wonderful center core of fruit wrapped in firm tannin and underlying earthy notes. High acidity with some green stem/grapefruit rind on the finish. Lovely. Paired nicely with duck breast. While I recommend cellaring this for another 10+ years, it is hard to resist now.

Merchant walkabout tasting of the 2021 burgundy vintage in bottle. I really liked this vintage, the wines were showing well. It is lighter and crisper than the 2020, more open at this stage and easier to drink, but there is no under-ripeness. Comparing it to recent vintages, I see it as a slightly cooler version of 2017. TN: Beautiful and surprisingly open wine here. Lots of aroma around red fruit, sweet spices, sous bois. Top Chambolle Village.

All brett. Still drinkable, but unfortunate.
