  • (Mix aus französischen und deutschen Klonen, wobei die französischen Klone die Hauptrolle spielen) Strahlendes Rubinrot. Die Nase ist eine wahre Droge, was für ein Duft, das ist Grand Cru, ohne Frage, tiefgründig, vielschichtig, perfekt integriertes Barrique, Kräuter, Tee, Orangenzesten, Sauerkirschen, himmlisch. Im Gaumen gradlinig, straff, druckvoll und hochelegant, der Wein zeigt viel Rasse, eine top Struktur, alles ist an seinem Platz, nichts überwiegt, das schwebt über die Zunge, wirkt verspielt und dennoch kontrolliert, hinterlässt im Abgang deutlich rotfruchtige Aromen und will kaum enden. Dem Pinot Himmel sehr nah. 97 vvPunkte und ein MUST für alle Qualitätsfreaks.

  • During a merchant walkabout tasting, so only brief impressions. Meyer-Näkel is a producer that I had encountered a few times before and like Stodden, these wines from Ahr region, which is even more northerly than Mosel, impressed me. Racy, complex Burgundian wines. The Sillberberg (93 pt, good density) Sonnenberg (92, lighter, precise) Pfarrwingert (92, fresh, very mineralic), and Kräuterberg (93+, denser and deeper pitched) all showed great freshness with red fruit and spices, reminding me of 1er Cru Burgundy wines. They still need 5 more years of bottle age. The 2021 vintage was on the light side, so I definitely plan to re-taste these in a sunnier year as well.

  • Again a very typical wine from this producer, and this relatively cool vintage seems to have done him good. The fruit is fresh and creamy the acidity is good, and there is a hint of firm tannin at the end.
