Final bottle from a six bottle lot purchased directly from the estate in 2006 and stored in perfect conditions since. Pristine bottle, perfect level and cork. Fresh palate, structurally completely intact, but with maderised aromas. Weird - after five impeccable bottles from the same lot. Damn.

Fifth bottle from a six bottle lot purchased straight from the estate in 2006. Fully mature but lively appearance; expressive nose, smoky slate and ditto oak, crushed red and black berries and undergrowth, fresh and fragrant, with a lovely aged complexity; the fresh and lively palate has lost some of its weight, and it shows a more slender, minerally profile at this stage, with fruit of rosehip and beautifully developed tertiary flavours; the finish displays quite a lot of spicy oak, but resonance and length are very good. Drink up.

(Mayer-Nakel Dernauer Pfarrwingert Grosses Gewachs) So much on the nose. A potpourri of pine needles, spice, ripe cherry fruit, tea leaves and mineral. Youthful on the palate with tremendous concentration and ripe fruit. Very dense and long. Would love to put this in a bunch of 1er Cru Red burgs from a vintage like '01 or '96.

VinoLaprisco Tasting (Restaurant De Karpendonkse Hoeve *, Eindhoven, Netherlands): Incredibly delicious, fragrant, slate and ripe fruit, wonderfully pure and energetic, elegant, bright acidity, excellent length.
