Classic nose, slow to evolve or even show much at first but with time it grows. Not a paradigm of purity but nice balance and weight. Good floral character.

12.5% abv. AP 26. Open 48 hours, mostly resealed in the fridge. 50-60° F. On day 1 this resembled something more tidy than compelling. I admired its crystal clear and coherent notes of grapefruit. Now the complexities are worn loose and easier to grasp. Deeply stained aromatic threads force sensations of red cinnamon candied sage and thyme. A bright and sharply edged cataract churns milled nuts, coastal gravel, and herbs; green, custard/graham-scented green apple peel. This wine has broad shoulders and inertia. It’s also fairly tightly wound and bound up in its own detail.

Flickinger Tasting at The Casino (Chicago, IL): Very young of course, but with the archetypal Keller fullness and richness. Electric acidity, counterweighted by generous fruit, but this is not as herbal and spicey as some other vintages. A bigger, broader wine, less shaped by its acidity than by its fruit.

not blind, at the winery
Spicier, more powerful and creamier than Kirchspiel but the latter one is more elegant. 94-95
