Acid Compass #4-Ft Vom Boden wines (and friends) with Jon Ritchie (E&R Wines, Portland OR): The nose is on the tighter side, but there is still so much depth and class behind the tones of apples, pears, jasmine, elderflowers, crushed rocks, meyer lemons, saline, and some banana leaf notes. The Medium bodied feel is vibrant and deep with sneaky, yet mouthwatering, high acidity. The nose shows off some tightness, but the feel is just gorgeous. This is all class on the feel and shows off the quality level I would expect from Keller. I would love to come across this in another 5+ years and see how its developed.

Taut and precise, with so much bright lemon citrus and intense, piercing acidity. Concentrated and powerful, I’m really enjoying this one a lot… so good!

Saturday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): Not as electric and exciting as the Kirchspiel today. While this certainly has many of the same high-acid, taut qualities, this doesn't quite have the same zing as its northern sibling. Rounder and fatter, but certainly no less balanced, just in a very different way. A bit more phenolic and bitter as well. Still, plenty delicious, but the Kirchspiel was the unanimous favourite this afternoon. Compared to the 2022 that I had about a fortnight ago, this is the racier, leaner version, with more sinew and musculature than fat and oomph.

Guessed G-max 2021. Typical Keller nose, very concentrated and spicy, reductive, not sweet. Makes fun to drink it now. 95-96
