Looks very young, more red than brown Nose of meat, violet iris, iron filings, faint blackberry Mouth still tannic, with bitter herbs, pencil shavings, cedar Very elegant and going strong

Familiar Cab element again but very drying, grippy, and short, seemingly lacking the fruit to support the tannic backbone. Can't figure this one out, I'd recommend opening these to see how the balance is now.

Southern Italy: Very open and familiar nose from the 40% Cab Sauv; capsicum, cassis, fragrant mint character. Pretty stout, some wood, mature and elegant. As this sat a distinct brown sugar element came out that was really impressive. A beautiful wine in a great place, though I couldn't tell you what Gaglioppo tastes like...Certainly one of my WOTNs

Year-End Wine Tasting -- Cellar Treasures (Trattoria Asti -- Austin): Interesting. Many people thought it was an italian, but I wasn't sure as I don't have a lot of experience with Italian wines. I did really like this wine though and at 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 60% Gaglioppo this was a big wine that displayed some amazing notes of dried raisins (Amarone-like) and rustic flavors.
