VC Wednesday night group (Ypsilanti, MI): Some sulfur but it's gentle and integrated. Classic gruner phenolic presence providing both grip and pleasant bitterness on the finish. Very good.

Popped from a screwcap bottle. On the nose ripe yellow fruit and stony minerals. Medium bodied, dry, rather crisp, showing unfocused ripe yellow fruit with a bit of mineral and a tiny metallic aspect. This felt a bit odd and disappointing for an Austrian GV.

Visits in the Wachau and Kamptal; 10/4/2023-10/5/2023 (In and around the Wachau and Kamptal, Lower Austria): The nose is fresh and aromatic with pears, peaches, green apples, white fruits, flowers, and some juicy citrus notes. This is fragrant and balanced, but it lacks some depth and comes off as a bit simple. The Medium bodied feel carries through the balance of the nose with crisp, medium+ acidity. This is a fun, starter Gruner that hits the notes it needs to hit and not much more.
