New Year's Day, 2018 - Pokai Parera (Ekatahuna, New Zealand): Spectacular bottle. Perfect condition. Very sweet, but the richness of the Turkish Delight fruit, the massive texture, and acid balance, all contribute to a memorable wine. Luscious, intense and long.

This was pretty sweet with a beautiful floral aroma, specifically rose petals, and botrytis on the nose. The acid is a bit low to call this well balanced but the pleasure level to this makes that nitpicking. If I tried this blind I would have guessed Sauternes, that's how viscous this is. Drinking well right now I think would have better as a younger wine. Drink tonight if you've got it.

Classically Gewurz with all the spicy, floral & faintly cooked pineapple elements molded into a seamless whole. Could it use a little more freshness...sure, but the bottle was gone too fast for anyone to really care.

Ripe lychee and tropical fruit, rose petals and faintly honeyed and smoky elements in a very rich, slightly creamy-textured package. Wouldn't mind a bit more acidity here, but it's still really nicely balanced and enjoyable with a great combination of ripe Gewurz fruit and florality with more developed elements, matching really well with Indian kebabs and then a mix of cheeses.

Impressive finesse and wonderfully made. Almost seemless in balance between body and acids, and of course a gorgous aroma. Ate with Alsacian Munster with stewed golden beets. Such a solid perfomer. Not too oily and maintained elegant acids.
