  • 1/1, excellent cork. Decanted 1/2 hr.
Deep garnet core, pale garnet rim. Attractive smoky, gravelly nose - this could only be from the Medoc - with underlying black fruits. Medium bodied, dark, smoky, minerally fruit, touch of undergrowth soft, resolved tannins, fresh acids, medium/good length harmonious finish. Well balanced, drinkable and fully ready - maybe good for another 5 years or so.

  • I'd forgotten I still had this. The cork and level were perfect, but the wine had seen better days - not much in the way of fruit left and a slight mustiness, so it may have been a more tired bottle than most. Anyway, I blended it with a rather exuberant 2009 to make a truly stunning wine, so all was not lost.

  • Popped and poured, but i recommend to decant it.
Ruby with garnet hints throughout, quite viscous with quite slow legs.
The nose is elegant, classic, still with some fruits, cassis, plums, blueberry juice, followed by typical sandalwood, cedar, cigar box, old leather, espresso, forest floor, charred bell pepper, green peppercorn, a touch of herbs.
Mouthwise the wine has a lively acidity, with a good minerality, quite good concentration and silky almost resolved tannins. Medium bodied.
Plums and cassis coming back also on tasting, along with earth, cocoa, bell pepper, a little green.
It’s delicate yet with a slightly masculinity and greenness.
Fully integrated and with a good lenght.
Drink now with a good decant, i don’t see reason to wait more here, maybe no rush but do not wait for too long.
Enjoyable, seamless, classic claret at its peak.

  • Last one of these and sad to see them go. This bottle was probably the freshest and least developed of the ones we’ve had and would’ve benefitted from further ageing . Very nice classsic claret . 3.5+

  • This was good but lacked the energy and exotic spices that better bottles have had. Suspect just bottle variation. Worth drinking up though. 3.5
