  Regarded as a great vintage Pyrus by the winemaking team. 13.5% alcohol so full bodied by those days' standards. Bought at auction. No ullage, cork crumbled out. Evocative nose of cedar, cigar box, sandalwood, cherry. Great old Aussie red, plenty of flavour and life left. Secondary to tertiary flavour profile. Grip , drive, smoky charcuterie notes with browning notes of leather and varnish creeping in. Tad of volatile acidity at finish but well acceptable. Got to love these survivors and the pleasure they give compared to purchasable vinous infanticide.
  Rivals Parker Terra Rossa, its Lindemans sibling Limestone Ridge and Petaluma for best Coonawarra bordeaux blend.

  Fantastic. Well made drinking well. loads of secondary flavour. Glad I still had this. Really interesting. Similar kind of profile to the one I had 7-8 yrs ago but I preferred it this time.

  Palate: strong mint, blackberry jam, red and black berries, hints of lemon, roasted coffee beans. Sweet fruit up front and finishing drier, though it doesn't have the Bordeaux style dryness - otherwise a very Bordeaux style of wine. Complex and elegant, beautifully developed, full flavoured and bodies, fine grained big soft tannins, good acid and balance. However, the length is a little short, and this is why I marked it down a bit.

  This has been cellarstored more or less since purchase. I was surprised that the fruit was still ok. I would say it felt more like red fruits and than black. Was a bit stewed when I opened it. That blew off after a few minutes. Did not decant. It was a little bit like an older Bordeaux of a similar bottle age, but with that warmer fruit feel. A bit of wood coming through, and some carbon/graphite feel maybe nearer to open time. That sifted out quite a bit. I thought it was drinking well. Very nice for sure, not super complex but very good. There was some secondary flavour, but not esp earthy or leathery etc than Bord' can acheive. Length was also very good.
