Cork was in excellent condition. Colour deep red, a little bricking. OMG, nose of sweet fruit compote, dark fruit, leather, spice big time, flowers, some menthol, no capsicum but a little pepper. Quite a harmonious ensemble. Palette, lovely integrated tanins, dark sweet fruits. Acidity in control. Flavour quite lingering. Well cellared bottles should have the structure for 5-7 years as there's still a little backbone and structure there. Bought at auction for $35. Bargain! How can all this fun be legal?

What a great wine. Gifted from a friend I was surprised by how good this was; still holds good colour, bouquet still quite perfumed and as smooth as. I have subsequently added 4 other old vintages of Pyrus to the cellar for drinking quite soon, and looking forward to them all.

From TDG and $20. Dense black red bricking at the rim. Slutty nose. Love it. Like exotic lingerie baked in sweet pastry. Palate is a touch one dimensional after the X rated nose. Rich merlot, cab spine all held in check with menthol. Fresh acidity. It’s delicious and hard to imagine a better match for bbq sausages.
