Some Wine Tasted at the Zachys Auction (Formento's - Chicago IL): Small glass. Clearly one of the day's highlights. Slightly dirty nose with some must that I think would have blown off with more air. Mature black cherry and plum aromas with cooked mushroom, stewed meat and leather in enticing combination that I found completely classic and enthralling.

Wines tasted at Zachy's Chicago Watch Party (Formentos): Most weren't as keen on this but I loved the complexity in both the nose and palate. Full of mature fruit and meat, earth and mushroom notes. Still has some freshness and brightness. No reason to hold any longer.

Zachys auction at Formento's (Chicago, IL): I think I liked this wine more than others today; the nose shows fairly dirty with a fairly rustic disposition. The palate is very interesting, as it's one of the first wines from MG where I feel like I could taste something that I imagine to be chaptalization, where there's a midpalate sweetness that dies off before the acidity kicks off on the finish. A little backwards and rustic, but still quite good and complex for what it is. Drink up, though.

Great color and clarity on this bottle. Cool red fruit and light perfume initial nose. Nose browned somewhat with air time and as wine warmed. Palate not as fresh or clean as the initial nose. Some toastiness here that was distracting on the finish, more so after an hour of air time. 92-
