Drank at Locatelli with some pastas and then bistecca. In the VN style and drinking nicely. Nice roses on the nose with slight leather and tar. Light and racy with good richness on the p. I love VN but this is a slightly weaker vintage so I will not seek out more at the price I paid for it (£300), but I’d buy it at £50 -£65 if I saw it (which I suspect I won’t and that is why I bought it!). Splash Decanted - did improve after 15 mins or so and it surprised me that it didn’t need any more time.

Decanted for about an hour. Still quite restrained but opened up gradually in the glass. Classic and elegant (and somewhat stringent) Barolo. Quite light colour. Notes of black cherry and pepper. Still elegant and fresh and likely still some years away from its peak.

Barolo 2004 på Trattoria Popolare i Oslo: Veldig fatpreget barolo med kaffebønner, vanilje, sjokolade + røde bær. Mye fat også på smak, i overkant mye mørke toner i form av fat og kaffe samt vanlijetoner. Vil dette noen gang bli integrert?
