  Terrific, mature aromas of truffle, tea, dried roses, potpourri, tar resin and dried black cherries. Palate is a bit tired at this point with more of the aromas but fruit leans toward raisin and prune. Lengthy finish. One more bottle in the cellar.

  True to the variety and appellation. Good nose but palate had a bit of greeness - almost steminess. Good solid finish. Good but not superior.

  Bright garnet core faded all the way to the tawny rim; pretty much exactly where it should be at this point. On first pour, the aromas are lively, deep, and are dominated by tar resin, asphalt, roses, orange peel, and ripe apricot. After five minutes in the glass, truffle, tea, and soil emerge. Medium entry, with aggressive, fine-grained tannins and way more acidity than I was expecting. Femininely styled and begging for food, this should hold in its current plateau for another 5 years quite easily - I doubt there's enough fruit for more than that. I'm going to aerate this to decanter, lest my guests be overwhelmed with these tannins this evening. Good+ persistence, EtOH mostly integrated (decanter will help), and solid mid and back palate development. This is at peak now; the tannins from all of this expensive French oak demand aeration, so I will oblige. 14,5% abv, recommended, drink thru 2020

Nose was a bit shy and reduced on day 1, opening on day 2 to show ripe red cherry cough syrup, and menthol, with some cedar shaving notes. In the mouth, very attractive, pure, quite focused, red/cherry/ripe fruit accented by some woodsy/truffle notes. Ripe, sweet, pretty fruit on the finish before a firm swipe of fine grained sandpaper takes a little skin on the tounge. I love the purity, depth, and focus of the fruit in this. Being new to the whole B&B thing, I have to say that this doesn't fit my paradigm for the wines, but it does evoke a 1993 Giacosa Barolo drunk a few months ago in NY. Pretty and very enjoyable to me, I'll buy more.
