Gary's Intro Retro -- Italia!: Served double blind. Another clearly older wine by appearance. The nose here is light with vegetal and cumin notes. The fruit is largely faded and this is simply over the hill.

Chicago Wine Flock...Gary Goes Italian (Chez Weber - Chicago IL): Tasted double blind in what turned out to be a Gaja Barbaresco flight. This smelled like wonderful old Nebbiolo as it was poured, but was uninteresting 60 seconds later. This should probably be a pop-and-pour, as much as Nebbiolo-philes hate such an idea.

Slow-oxed for 6 hours into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Root” day): Pale ruby to the eyes.
Very pure fruits here. Very nicely done.
94 points easy.
Second round: smokey notes. Very vibrant on palate this.
Third round: remained very much pure and lean on palate.

First time I see when red wine matures into transparent almost clear liquid. Strong xerez smell.
That was risk with minimum odds to win.
Beautiful old label though!
