Taster “Neecies” has it right. I think the vintage saw the wines get away from quite a few producers. These were nice young but the 4-5 producers I’ve had made wines that kind of fall apart 7-10 years on. I think the high alcohol and ripe fruit really needed more acidity to hold things together. Not surprisingly, the producers who work new oak did better as their wines had more structure but are obviously not traditional.

Threw quite a bit of sediment upon decanting. Initially quite jammy and port-like on the nose but after about an hour it balanced out a bit into camphor balls, potpourri, charcoal embers, and ripe blue fruit. Rounded in the mouth with heated blueberries and some black pepper trying to poke through the density. Hot vintage for sure. Lots of tannin in the back of the mouth but dominated by the concentrated chunkiness in the mid-palate. A bit disjointed and inharmonious. Wanted more edginess. First instinct is to hold this a bit longer to see if things come together but not sure the fruit is in it for a longer haul.

Sweet and ripe--wouldn't have to tell an experienced taster that this came from a hot vintage. A decent drink but lacks essential Rhone-ness. Lots of sediment--decant needed.

(Clos des Brusquières Châteauneuf-du-Pape) Very dark red violet color; black fruit, blackberry, charcoal nose; tight, ripe, black fruit, blackberry, mineral palate; medium-plus finish
(Clos des Brusquieres Chateauneuf du Pape) #1; COLOR-medium; NOSE-really tight; PALATE-Wow; for having no nose, this wine brings enormous intensity; very dark; like taking really dark blackberries w/ melted down black licorice and black tea on top of that; pitch black; this is a very masculine CdP, but the back-end is quite feminine; like a sensitive tough guy; surrounded by great Asian spice flavors; nice tea flavors; less red fruit than most CdP's; this has great structure; extremely well made; I love the black pepper; really big; really smooth; very well structured; drinking really well in it's youth; finishes with a nice blueberry flavor; this is SPECTACULAR; will last 15-18 years; perfect w/ steak; getting a cinnamon component; this is a really complex bottle of wine; JR-91/94; GV-93+

Minerally, charcoal, somewhat lean. Brickish color. Based on prev reviews, this seems to have lost something. Good with food, but expected more.
