Drinking so nicely even after a short open time. Layers of stewed fruit, elderberry and dry cherry evolve into dry slate and light spice box. Longer dry finish.

This was really spectacular and I think drinking perfectly now. On open it was all mint, so much that I thought it might be corked, except that a corked wine tends not to show much on the nose. With 10 minutes of air the kerosene and listerine blew off, revealing a beautifully built napa cab from a bygone era of elegance and grace. The nose was raspberry, plum, currant, cedar, and of course, pine, eucalyptus and mint. My father, a tenured chemist, commented on the terpenoids, but I think he was being too analytical. The palate shows nice acidity but not too much, with a cool and crisp coating that is far more interesting than just being “minty”. The midpalate is rich and chalky, expanding with licorice and blackberry on the last seconds of the long finish. A beautiful wine, and I think one that all oenophiles must know.

Magnificent. Both bottles firing on all cylinders almost immediately. This has everything you want and love about Martha's.
