  • Brought by a friend to dinner, double decanted prior. This was absolutely gorgeous with an amazing velvety texture. Cassis, plum, eucalyptus, graphite and black raspberry notes on the nose and palate. Extremely long finish. Perfect pairing with the steaks we had for our main course. The only issue might be that it is already fully mature and probably not likely to improve further and a drinking window probably starting to close.

  • Pulled the trigger on this bottle to commemorate 17 years with my bride. With the help of MS Steven McDonald we landed on Martha's vineyard. Blind I would have guessed BDX. Full of herbal, dark fruits, licorice and forest floor qualities. Fruit has peaked so this wine would be on the back side of the drinking window for my palate but in a great place now.

    Cheers!

  • Shared a glass with a friend over about a half hour visit to his place. Decanted for several hours. Classic Martha’s decent acidity, lovely nose, rich flavors...eucalyptus/mint, blackberry, graphite, vanilla/oak influence and a little umami, but not a lot of secondary development as yet. Yummy! Lots of life left...way more than the 2023 drink by date in CT prior to this note.

  • The dark ruby color along with the flavors of black cherries, slight currant and licorice make for an enjoyable wine. The moderate finish with light tannins and moderate acidity make for a very drinkable wine. There is another 3 - 5 years in the bottle, but that is it....so drink it up BEFORE 5 more years.

  • What an interesting wine! Not quite CA and not quite Bordeaux. Purchased for a virtual tasting hosted by Acker Merrill with the new CEO of Heitz Cellars. Mint and reddish black fruit on the nose, all leather and smoke and tobacco from the first taste through the finish. My initial inclination was that I preferred the Heitz Trailside, which we also tasted (more traditional Napa Cab, but also with a subtle twist), but in time this really grew on me and prevailed as the better wine.
