Muted on opening, but after 2 hours of being slowly consumed it came alive. Super minty, as of course it should be. A bit of leather, white chocolate, black cherry, almost a bit of white pepper Syrah-like scent. Quite a light vintage compared to some, and very fresh as a lot of these older Martha's are- not a hint of funk. Clean and crisp. Perhaps slightly too acidic, sweet, but not overbearing. Medium, slightly bitter finish.

Fun to revisit this wine after so many years. Deeply Bordelais with graphite, lead, tobacco, and leather. No eucalyptus, but lovely spice and lift of fruit to give it that Napa distinction. This particular bottle was totally resolved at this point.

Nose: Cool black and red fruit notes, eucalyptus, mint, sweet tobacco and cedar. Complex and engaging nose. Palate: middle bodied, fully resolved and silky palate feel with black cherry, mint, tobacco and herbs. Cocoa, graphite and cedar chest notes. The freshness is remarkable.
Initially this was tight and reluctant needing a good 45 minute decant to unfurl and open up. This is a complete and classic Heitz wine. Has all of the markers of Martha's Vineyard.
A one owner bottle purchased by a restaurant decades ago and packed away in a overflow storage cellar. Provenance was everything here.

PNP, accessible from the get go, really came to life after a few hours. Just wow! Still fresh, from the aromatic nose to the finish. Pure red fruit, cherry, eucalyptus tobacco. Beautifully balanced between crunchy red fruit, tertiary earthy notes, smooth but present tannins and juicy acidity.
