Light amber colour. Bq w brown butter, slight oak, baked apple, whiff of orange. Full body w plenty of fruit, plenty of acidity. Long aftertaste w citrus and herbs. Not much complexity. Still going strong. A powerful wine, not so elegant.

Tasted next to the 1996 BdM Corton-Charlemagne. The Jadot was clearly richer, but also more interesting and elegant. Nose had notes of apples, citrus, some fresh herbs, and a hint of hazelnuts. Still remarkably fresh for a 21 year old Chardonnay and no hint of oxidation whatsoever. Palate was driven by acidity, yet balanced by the richness and featured flavors of citrus, lemon, and maybe a hint of vanilla. Long finish. Just a wonderful experience!

subtle nose with depth, clean feel, apple and pear aromas. Full flavor with lemon, mineral and lively acid taste. Very long length. Substantial. Grand Cru. Drink now.

Birthday Dinner 2015 (Mitzo): From a magnum, this was quite lovely. It had a nice rich nose, with distinct wafts white peppercorns framing pleasant aromas of white fruits and honey, nuts and spice, and then typical Corton-Charlie notes of white chocolate and chalk running on behind. The palate was round, rich and fleshy, with more white chocolate notes alongside ripe flavours of apples and pears, and then a lightly honeyed tone just starting to come up on the midpalate. This wed Grand Cru depth and typical Corton-Charlemagne power to a fresh, juicy balance, with nice lemony acidity carrying the wine through into a long, full, rich finish infused with chalk and spice. A lovely wine, drinking well on the night, but it is only now starting to take on little mature shades and clearly has some years to go yet. In a magnum format, I would say try it again in 2017 onwards.
