PnP and drink over one hour. Really tight at opening: structured with light red fruits, floral, spices... it only starts to open at the end of the glass but still a long way to go. I regret not having time to give a proper decant. it really needs it. No rush to drink it.

Magnum from Italian Wine Night. Decanted over a long period. Almost orange in color. Drank well to start with notes of leather and subtle fruit. Later in night it was still developing - had great structure and was fun to keep finding different notes. An absolute blast to taste over time.

Magnum. Double decanted, and then consumed over 7 hours. Light garnet fanning out to orange. On the pop and pour, nose is alive with smoke, baked dark fruit, beef broth, blood, cocoa. Still showing some structure on a light to medium in body palate. Similar characteristics to the nose with a baked black fruit, some prune, dried leather, dried nuts.
Had it at a 90 upon opening, think it improved into the 92-93 range by the end of the night, as it kept opening up and coming together. This was a really nice experience.

Perfect cork. Classic Barolo nose, red fruit if ripe by now, some earth. On the palate lacks substance and fruit, even for the sweet tannins of 1985. Overall a bit out of balance by now. 85 at best.

Bottle 9677 of 23530. Very potent nose with aromas of ripe plums and high-toned florals. The palate is quite ripe as well, and this time around, there isn't that kick of oak that I got last time. Sweet black fruit on the palate, with still quite a bit of punch. Dense and big, this is on the jammy side of Barolo. Tannins could still use some time to resolve. An extra day has done this wine wonders. It has softened significantly, showing much more earth, light florals, and red fruit. The oak has integrated better -- this is a much more satisfying (half-)bottle of Barolo than it was yesterday.
