Lots of fun to drink. Needed a LOOOONG decant. Hard to pin down some of the layers. This was closer to leather and tar than soil and earth. No complexity on the nose but earthiness mid-palate was fun. Argument could be made may be past its prime.

Chard, Pinot and Barolo, w/Food and Friends (My House): Decanted at 2pm; very fine sediment, lost a good half a glass in the decant. Had stood up the bottle for about a day prior to this. Developed nicely after about 4-5 hours in the decanter, where it is much more integrated and delicious relative to pop and pour. I'd say goes from 90ish on my scale to easy 92+.
Color is light to medium garnet. Nose is fresh earth, traces of tar. Palate has nice energy. Almost medium in body. Mid-palate is juicy red cherry, finish is more mineral with iron and rock. Nicely drinking at what feels like some point along its maturity plateau, with no risk of falling off anytime soon.

Had this with Risotto al Fungi at Cantinetta. Perfect pairing. The wine is at its peak

Late Dec 2021: deep purple color; dark berries and cherries in the nose; tart combined with a decent acidity on the palate.
