The nose is starting to show some meat and leather development. It also smells of earth, raisin like fruit, chocolate and dried fig. It is full and sweet in the mouth with a savoury edge. Tannins are relatively gentle and the wine is just about bang on for my tastes as it approaches its 20th birthday.

Piquant and old school nose has leather and berries. This wine feels backwards - high acid and raw tannin as well. Finishes a bit thin suggesting that more age may not be kind. If you are risky, give it ten more years (minimum) and hope for the best. (84+?)

Ruby red. Interesting nose of sandalwood, coffee and lilacs. A modern touch can be felt in this rich, slightly bitter Barolo. Pleasant drinking. (88)
