Giacosa Riservas and Cappellano Francos (Hearth Restaurant, NYC): [Double-decanted around 9:30 am.] More of that big Serralunga black fruit in the nose and mouth. Rich, juicy, more open than the 2004, but not by a lot. Still quite young. Long finish of tart red fruit and licorice. Needs another decade.

Rødbrun farge med lys kant. Overraskende mye utviklet og virker nesten på topp nå. Dufter asfalt tjære og tørket frukt. Stram og flott i munnen med markant sursøtt preg. Men tanninene er utviklet og vinen fremstår som mye eldre enn 15 år. Drikk nå og frem år fremover.

PR 1969 Extravaganza: Graphite, mineral, cherry and light smoke on the nose. Sweet fruited with olives and tannic kick. A powerful, dense palate but plenty of structure to prop it up. Impressive, young wine.

Light and traditional Barbaresco with quite oxidized aromas. Very developed, and as such typical Cappellano. Better in the mouth.
