APPEARANCE: Medium deep garnet colour with a medium wide, lovely brick coloured rim. Not much sediments. NOSE: Raspberries, ripe dark plums, hints of aniseed and tar, dry forest floor in late summer, dry leaves, rowanberries, cedar wood and dry black tea leaves. (90p) TASTE: The arrival is fruity but dry, nicely tannic. On the mid palate; dark plums, tobacco, cigar box, some dried dark fruits and a hint of black pepper. Medium to long aftertaste. (89p) OVERALL: Mature, very nice food wine. Will keep but may gradually start to lose its fruity side. TOTAL SCORE: a strong 89 points.

(Produttori del Barbareresco) Stunning nose of black cherries, roses, tar, camphor, dried leaves. This just screams Nebbiolo. Very aromatic. Out of Ravenscroft Burgundy glasses and they do make a difference. There is also a complicated hint of menthol that adds to the mix. A great nose. Big entry that is a bit young but crashes onto the palate with a crescendo of dark cherry fruit along with pearly tannins that are ripe and juicy. Long finish. So classic. Very floral on the inner mouth aromatics just adds to the complexity.

Nice concentration, nose opened after about 2 hrs in the decanter. Typical aromas of roses, dust, dried red fruits. Medium body.
