Pristine bottle, level into neck, perfect cork. In spite of the amazing condition, not as good as the previous two bottles. It is perfectly fresh and lively and still retains its phenolic grip, but the palate is rather skinny. It is harmonious and nothing is off, but it is an ageing athlete whose ribs are sticking out a bit. The finish is just starting to develop a metallic edge. Drink up.

Pristine bottle and in absolutely perfect condition in its 30th year. A gentle and mature wine, vinous and slightly honeyed nose, with subtle but fresh fruit and a touch of garrigue; very pleasant natural sweetness on the attack, balanced and harmonious palate, transparent and elegant (12.5% ABV) but not lacking weight, perfectly integrated acidity and vestiges of tannic grip, light but perfectly pure flavours; good length. Slightly less vibrant than the previous bottle, but ever so silky and charming. Delicious.

Purchased recently at auction together with several other lots of wine from the 1980's. It must have been a very good cellar - all bottles are in excellent condition. This bottle has a very top shoulder level - base of neck almost - outstanding for age. Mature but lively appearance, medium deep; lovely nose, vinous and cedary, with notes of leather, garrigue and minerals, vestiges of mature black fruit and a hint of undergrowth, ever so slightly estery; the palate is elegant and transparent, remarkably youthful for its 29 years of age, fresh and well-balanced, rounded off nicely by some sweetness from its fruit and animated by life-sustaining tannins; there is black tea on the gentle finish and length is very good. This is a wine with a beautifully mature profile, without any signs of decay. Completely ready.

While this is will not improve anymore and may be past its peak, it is still very enjoyable. A lot of old leather notes on the nose along with garrigue, prunes and a mix of red and dark fruits. A hint of game. On the lighter side on the palate (12.5%) but still very much structured and intense, pretty similar to the nose with good acidity and overall balance. More spices and licorice. Not crazy complex but still a good example of aged Bandol (90 to 95% Mourvedre for Pibarnon).
