  • A very good 1970, still holding up very well.

Nice tertiary profile in particular- coffee, mint and dried herbs, very fresh. Good balance and acidity. Tannins fading but not drying. Long finish.

  • Neck fill and sound cork. Deep in colour, this the last bottle is in terrific condition. Capsicum, tobacco, cedar nose and a similar palate. Mid weight in style, this is a classic ‘luncheon claret’. Long finish with the Cabernet fruit showing 18.

  • First of four bottles purchased a few years ago at auction. Very good top shoulder fill, with a cork that was saturated, but dry at the top, and removed in one piece with my trusty Durand. I did not have high expectations since this was not a particularly strong decade for Cos, but as a fan of this estate, I was eager to see how they might look at 50+ years (the oldest previous vintages I've tried were the '75 and '76). The color was quite good, maroon with a bit of an amber edge, and the nose was quite alluring. Cedar, red currants, cranberry, tart cherry, tobacco and forest floor notes, with medium body and a somewhat abbreviated finish. Tiring out a bit, but still very pleasant.

  • Sadly this once lovely wine is a rather tart glass of cranberry juice. No regrets as I have enjoyed many wonderful bottles over the years.

  • Drank 7/31/2022 Nose:Bl fruit, Col:Dark brick, dark color through Pal:love the tannin! Finish long fruit with tannin which I love! MAX's review of the same bottle~ sorry for all those with over the hill / flawed bottles unlike this perfectly cellared one. Intense dark brick red all through. V big, great nose, barnyard, damson, black fruit. Pal: bright soft mouth feel, quite extraordinary balance for its age, acid black cherry and enough medium soft tannin for great balance. V long fruit & acid. A stunning 52 year old.
