This might have been my WOTN. It's just a very well aged bordeaux. There's still some fruit, but it's not what's dominating the flavor at this point. Lots of more of the cigar and leather style. Drinking very well though. Still going strong.

Good, deep color but the very old-style personality to the wine paired with some of the inherent austerity of the 88 vintage means that this is starting to fade away. Still touches of Merlot with blackberry and truffle. Unfortunately the fruit hasn't been supplanted by some of the sublime tertiary aromas of St. Emilion, leaving the fruit accented by a bit of leather and cedar. Bottom line: pleasant wine, nothing profound, drink them if you've got them.
