Canon vs. Duffau-Lagarrosse 2009-2020 tasted blind (Fribourg): Medium garnet. Expressive nose of dark fruit with oak spices. Very extracted and a little drying on the finish, Not tannic/rustic but there is a drying element on the palate that I am not sure it will disappear with age. Hard to judge. Time will tell. 92-94

Vertical of Canon vs Beasejour Duffau Lagarrosse (Fribourg): Vertical of Beausejour Duffau Lagarrosse vs Canon vs selected pirates 2005-2020. Main takeaways : i/ Canon trumps Beausejour overall, especially in more recent ones. ii/ Canon tends to be lighter-footed, more delicate while Beausejour is typically more extracted and ripe. iii/ St Emillion clearly struggles with the hotter vintages a few years on with 2005 the low-light, already exhibiting beef juice elements. iv/ best wines were Canon 2015 (95), 2019 and 2020 (94 each). Summary of wines and scores included in the tasting story.
Tasting note: Cherry fruit and Kirsch, maybe some dried flowers. Also herbs and mineral base notes. The palate simple with a focus on fruit. Grippy tannin and blurry acidity. Best kept cellaring for a few years, but could emerge nice pretty then.

Very nice to drink now so really no shame. But will keep for a looooong time. Bit more muted then the 18, but great stuff!!!! Overall a great balanced St. Emilion built for the ages.

Totally delicious fresh well balanced juicy fruit and great to drink now with no decant. No sign of shut down yet, worth trying one while the window is open.
