4/14/2013 - Pebben wrote: 91 pointsPopped and poured. Medium golden colour. On the nose; pineapple juice, orchard fruits and spices – hadn’t it been for the tell tale buttery, vanilla-toffee notes I would probably have guessed Riesling. On the palate; more pineapple juice – rich and creamy, but backed up by lots of refreshing acidity. Good concentration and length. Lacks the depth and finesse to compete with the Kistler consumed last weekend, but is nevertheless another fine example of a US Chardonnay that’s generous without compromising on structure. |

It was perfect for drinking by the pool because it was not overpowering. Acidity was soft, fruit flavors were mellow and it was only slightly buttery/creamy. Good flavor and overall really good wine considering price. |

I have 3 more, and I am not certain how long to hold them. I like my chardonnay with a few years on it, but this wine is drinking very well now. Don't know what sort of improvement (or change) time will bring. |

4/15/2010 - clio_wine wrote: NRGood/Very Good. A few years since my last Schug and it's nice to know that there's some constancy in the universe. Straw color with a hint of green. Crisp apple with citrus on the nose. Mostly citrus with a bit of apple on the palate and a moderately lingering finish. Medium oak; hard to call this buttery, but it leans very slightly in that direction to nice effect. It will not be a few years before the next one. <Wow/Very Good/Good/Fair/Plonk> |
