A lighter, translucent red-violet. Bouquet of rust, chocolate and plum. Smooth, simple palate. Simple, sugary finish. This has vibrant acidity which went unnoticed until tasting it with the first course. It’s drinking nice right now. [90-91]

A deeper purple-red color. Horseradish in the bouquet. A note of chlorine too. Smooth (not grippy like the Rol) mid-palate of plum, minerals and a few hints of high-toned red fruit. More minerals in the finish. This has an excellent yet firm tannic structure that is built to last. I think if the fruit holds up, this is one to watch. [92-93]

Deep purple color. Sexy chocolate and cherries, perfume and pencil lead in the bouquet. Very seductive and very well structured. Fat, complex mid-palate supported by fine, grainy tannins. The finish is very long and dry with ending notes of espresso and dark chocolate. [94]

Dark purple, the darkest of the flight. Plum, perfume, iodine and band aid. Simpler palate (compared to the 2000) but not as simple as the Bellisle. Medium finish with a little heat.

The color is the most red of the flight with a good fade. Buttery, strange, ginger and band aid in the bouquet. This is flawed.

Deep purple core. Tight, stalky bouquet with a hint of celery. The palate tastes fine though. I just don’t find the bouquet appealing.

Very tight, a touch of plum sauce, a smoother more even palate from mid- to finish. This needs time to reveal more. [94]

Restrained nose, a very full mid-palate and a long finish with a rubbery complexity to it. The finish is much deeper and complex than the Pavie. [94-95]

Very restrained, only showing a peppery bbq sauce note in the bouquet. There is a noticeable style difference here. This is good. [93]

Even sexier than the Rol Valentin. This offers up chocolate, cherries, deep espresso and charred wood in the bouquet. Later on it became ‘milky’ which I found irresistable. Fluent mid-palate. Notes of espresso beans in the finish. A little short on length though. This has precise delineation which the Rol lacks. This also needs more time. [94-95]

Sweeter, simple, not the most complex but drinking quite well. [89-90]

Served blind. Notes of ginger in the bouquet. [91]

Pale yellow. Tight, a stream of crushed pineapple, ginger and apricots. The tannins are very stimulating. [93]

The palate flavor reminds me of Grand Marnier. The fruit has faded away but the structure is nice. The tannins are a bit 'crackling'. Nice finish though. [85]

This is wound tight – a hint of bread dough and lemon. Crisp, zippy palate with more lemon and minerals notes. Very nice finish. [90]

Beautiful bouquet of lemon, limestone, with hints of petrol and flint. Expansive mid-palate of lemon oil leading to a deep complex finish with notes of lemon, spice and flint. Very balanced with no heat whatsoever. This is excellent. [94]

1975 Château Gloria 85 Points

A mature garnet with light orange at the rim. A mature bouquet with hints of green pepper and cellar dust. The palate is absent fruit or maybe just overshadowed by the stiff tannic structure that remains. Short finish with some heat. [85-86]
