Tobacco & blackberry on the nose gives way to lots of fruit. Very well balanced with a nice gripping finish. Drinking well after 17 years. The cork was extremely tight and the wine dark. I'm glad I let this bottle age.
From magnum. This is the best right bank wine I have had this year. It is superb in fruit, balance, tannins and (especially) finish. More herbs and fruit than smoke/peat overtones of some St Emilions. Should be in good shape for a few more years although I would start (or continue) drinking any 750s right away. You don't want to miss this phase of this wine.
Five years later, a different bottle, no stink, quite contraire, the aromatics are a classic fruit basket. On top blueberries, then black cherries, followed by plum and currant. Medium bodied, fully ready to drink now, one can wait, but no guarantees. There is spice, tobacco, cappaccino, anise, and fresh saddle leather, smooth and sweet tannins, the almost twenty year old characteristics make this a pleasure wine for those who like myself bought for $45.00.
Dark, slight discolouration around the rim. Opulent nose, lovely richness, ripe fruit, spices, forest notes, dark flowers. On the palate much more restrained and backward. Quite firm tannins, good acidity, grippy. Good length. 92-93+
