maybe it was because this had just been opened, but i found this one a bit leaner. still a great mersault with rich pear and caramel, but it seemed lighter on its feet.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
this is a very unique mersault. the nose is loaded with lemon zest, green apple and even some herb. the palate is razor sharp with an intense minerality and slate. finish is almost puckering, but i love the intensity of this wine.
nose is really aromatic, lemons, musk, a bit of yeast. the palate isn't as creamy as a champagne, but it has good acid a nice kick on the end of minerals and vanilla.
golden apples, pear butter and oak on the nose. the palate is surprisingly high in minerals. nice roasted nuts on the finish. not really complex or lasting, but it's easy to drink.
medium purple color. the nose shows meat, beef jerky and red plums. raspberry, currants, a bit of rhubarb, glide across the palate. medium+ bodied, with spicy acid and earth on the finish. very nice.
the nose was so perfumed with the fruit and mineral and meat aromas. the palate was dense with solid fruit, lacid with a very distinct clove and baker's chocolate note. very bold, but retains that subtlety that makes it so pleasurable to drink.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny
nose is exotic. lots of cherry blossoms and bacon. smoke. on the palate this has fine tannins, medium acid, and lots of smoky cherries. smooth yet well-structured.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges
nose showed stewed plums, meat, beef jerkey. the palate, however, is refined with velvety tannins and a nice, spicy, acidic kick. cherry fruit mixed wth coffee grinds. yet this wien retains a really elegant, sexy mouthfeel.
nose shows stewed fruits. smells tired. still some lamb and tobacco. gamey. very low on the fruit. there's a flavor that's much closer to ashes than tobacco. subtle wine. verging on too weak for me. but if you like earthy, nonfruity wines, this is in a good place. in my opinion, it's five or ten years too late.
dark magenta color. figs, plums and chocolate on the nose. the palate is surprisingly vibrant with sicy acid. gritty tannins. the fruit is spicy. nice blackberries, cherries. a bit of coffee grinds and bitter chocolate on the finish. very long finish.
