France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
I was pretty shocked by how sweet this was was. This producer is usually more understated and lithe, but this was just sugary and ripe. Wasn't much of a fan.
Interesting nose of smoked meats, veggies, red fruit, and herbs. The palate was hard to enjoy, at first, as the tannins were just ripping. Threw it into a decanter and after an hour or so the tannins seem to relax a bit. Super light color is oh so sexy, and the flavors are really precise. Nice radish, cranberry and mineral notes with floral undertones. Going to hold my other bottles.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru
Thought this showed really well. Beautiful nose of earth, red fruits and floral elements. The palate was sleek and edgey with a great combination of fruit, earth and florals. Hard to beat this.
France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine
This is an amazing combination of lush Muscadet fruit and crystalline pear and peach notes. Clisson has that extra density to it, but the acidity is there and it's hard to think of a better sub $25 wine.
Vinous nose with cured meats and dried floral notes. The palate was really sexy with lush dark fruits, and a nice earthy belly to it. Nice length and good complexity. My first Coche rouge...pretty dang good.
Thought this had great overall balance and polish. Haven't drank a ton of Montille's but they always come across as somewhat feminine. This was no exception. Great acidity, too...should age nicely.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Fair amount of sulphur on the nose. Nice fruit with flinty and stoney elements on the palate. Palate was showing nicely with lemons, apples and pears. Really nice chardonnay.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Flinty with really nice pear and apples on the nose. The palate had some oak, but it was integrated pretty nicely. A pretty nice package all together...thought the Chaumes was slightly better.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Very lush and expressive fruit here. Dublere's Corton's are always tipping the scales...broad shouldered with medium acidity, these seem to be positioned to impress now versus later. Yeah, this is pretty good.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Lots of cool fruit and earthy red fruit on the palate. Was really impressed by the finesse and depth of flavor. Good example of taking a warmer vintage and keeping the palate reserved and balanced.
Drank alongside Burgundies, this seemed rich and fat. While this didn't have that cherry cola note that a lot of Californian pinots have, this was somewhat dense and clunky (again, compared to the other wines being poured).
Lots of fruit and mineral. Some talked about this being flawed, but I never tasted anything that seemed out of place. Didn't have a ton of complexity, but that's not what I'm looking for with this wine. Nice balance and acidity.
I wasn't surprised that I really liked this wine. Wonderfully lithe and vivid, the fruits were in total harmony with the earth and minerals. Could drink this all day.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru
Probably my favorite wine. Loved its rustic, earthy underbelly...such a great combination with the vivid, juicy 2009 fruit. A really nicely composed wine...layers of fruit and florals with zippy minerality.
Another contender for my favorite wine of the day. Incredibly silky and smooth, this had a weightless palate but incredibly pure and vivid red fruit and floral profile. So good.

2009 Jean Noel Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chaumes

A bit fat and vinous on opening. The acidity was moderate and the fruit was REALLY lush. I didn't have a chance to revisit this.

Liked this a lot. Narvaux chardonnay seems to have this appealing crystalline lemon and pear flavor that really gets to me. Nice and flinty...

Fair amount of oak (as expected) on the palate here. Dark fruits, lots of earth...but LOTS of oak. Feel like you have to let these sit longer.
