I'm new to this type of distilled wine. Walnut and burnt toast at the nose. Dried figs and more nutty impressions on the palate. Creamy texture;rich (and hot) finish.

Very pure at the nose, subtle gooseberries and blossoms. Rich on the palate, yellow and white fruit and a nice mineral touch towards the finish. Really liked it.

Rather closed at the nose, some cabbage. Powerful on the palate; ripe fruit, some vegetal notes and some fine acids. Balanced from onset to finish but with some rather raw tannins. Patience will be rewarded.

Jammy fruit and some alcohol at the nose, rather closed. Very round and concentrated on the palate. Big and ripe, but lacking somewhat in acidity and therefore quite hot. Decent lasting finish with round tannins. Appears shut down, better wait some years.

Intense youthful nose with soft fruit. Juicy cooked and dried fruit on the palate, full from onset to finish. Seductive nicely-balanced wine, will it ever close down?

Cherries, brambles and vanilla at the nose. Dark cherries and blueberries on the palate; supported by a decent load of spicy tannins and resulting in a nicely toasted finish. Very good over the next few years but there's certainly no hurry.

Not much to say about the nose; disappointing. Lots of cherries but also rather green on the palate. Quite thin and not very pleasant.

Dried fruits, some barnyard and a nice acidity at the nose. Elegant round style on the palate. This is well-balanced and ready to drink with some tertiary aromas already breaking through.

Expressive and pure at the nose, many soft aromas ranging from raspberries to coffee. Round on the palate, candied fruit and integrated oak. Some heat towards the rich finish. Lots of potential but also very pleasant now.

Complex nose with ripe fruit, coffee, some tobacco and smoke. Medium/full-bodied and intense on the palate, lots of cassis and some bell pepper; very fresh and with smooth tannins. Enjoy now or cellar with confidence.

Focused at the nose; very pure cedar and some other notes that give the impression that the bouquet is at the beginning of opening up. Interesting mix of tart and dried fruit impressions on the palate, rich and rather full-bodied. Long finish supported by round tannins. Impressive wine; not nearly finishing its adolescence.

Perfumed nose with rose petals and some subtle hints of barnyard. Silky texture on the palate, cassis, other dark fruits and well-integrated fresh acids. High quality second wine, drink now and over the next few years.

Very expressive at the nose, complex mix of floral (rose petals) and animal notes (pâté). Fleshy on the palate with similar impressions and firm tannins. Quite open at the nose but the palate still needs some more time to soften.

Plum and fresh cherries at the nose. Round onset with ripe plums, then coarse tannins kick in, resulting in a rather raw-textured finish. One-dimensional and quite harsh at the moment but it should age well (substance, tannins and acidity are all there, ready to integrate).

Deep nose with tart cherries, some vanilla and charcoal. On the palate it is powerful in every way: high in fresh acids, rich in juicy fruit, lots of grainy tannins, spicy notes and some bell pepper. Pleasant at the moment, promising for the future.

Ripe plum and smoked meat at the nose. Silky and juicy at the onset, powerful ripe tannins kick in from the mid-palate along with toasted oak. Modern style, rather bombastic, the components need some time to integrate.

Floral notes, tobacco, smoke and some coffee at the nose. Round on the palate, red berries, falls a bit towards the mid-palate during which the oak comes forwards more explicitly. Well-integrated tannins towards the finish. No signs of evolution on the palate except for the smooth tannins. Drink over the next few years.

Rather closed at the nose; deep dark fruit. Rustic on the palate; concentrated fruit, fresh acids and firm tannins; still a long way to go. Everything is there, give it time or enjoy now with red meat.

Expressive nose with gooseberries, grapefruit and toast. Slightly thin on the palate, lemon and gooseberries, texture is fine with a slightly bitter bite. Crisp lemon at the finish. Fresh and easy.

Dark berries at the nose and some chocolate, rather closed. Concentrated and well-structured on the palate, the texture is slightly thin though. Closed at the moment but nicely supported by round tannins and fresh acids. Probably not the best moment to drink this.

Showing a lot of volatile aromas at the nose: violets, hard candy and gingerbread. Soft texture with fresh acids and fine berry fruit on the palate. Not nearly at its peak yet, but surely quite impressive already.

Not that much at the nose. Ripe yellow fruit on the palate with a slightly bitter bite; unremarkable and lacking concentration and texture.

Raisins, vanilla, some butter and dried apricot at the nose. Pleasant pineapple on the palate with a rich texture. Not flawless though: lacking acidity to balance the sweetness and it also appear slightly chemical.

Deep nose with lots of ripe fruit, some petrol, elderflowers, oranges and other botrytized impressions. Concentrated tropical fruit, dried fruit and honey on the palate, rich but balanced with fresh acids. Clear notes of saffron during the long lasting finish. Fantastic wine.

2005 Taittinger Champagne Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut
France, Champagne
Rather closed at the nose, some lactic impressions, elderberry blossoms and toast. Lean acids on the palate, apple but rather closed, surely elegant however. Not a great showing at the moment, some more bottle aging will probably be beneficial.
