Not very well versed in Volnay, so looked forward to this. Came with the opinion that Volnay is charming, a bit astringent and often lacked fruit.
Mature strawberries, but also some herbal elements, camphor. A fresh wine, good structure and balance.

We were warned about this being fully shut down. At least for this bottle, that was not completely true. Dark fruit, some herbs here as well, big bodied, tight, decent dose of tannin. Open a bit up after many hours in the glass, but never fully. Wait 10-20 years. Rating for now.

Red and dark fruit, some bacon/rubber; at first slightly ubalanced, but developed in the glass and became pleasant -- although never truly exiting. Some wood.

Pleasant, but a little pedestrain. Good structure, but lacks that exiting 2010-top fruit, somewhat synthetic. Not an optimal bottle.

Mint, camphor, tobacco: Wonderful balance, fresh, good structure and some tannins still there. After a while some fruit sweetness emerges. Still development ahead (?)

Very good PN nose, a hint of tobacco, somwehat short, good intensity for a 2007

Deep an furry PN nose. Wonderful balance, delicious and sexy. Some toast, yes, but not overpowering. I would not peg this blind as Volnay though, more like a Vosne.

Camphor, red fruit/rasberries, a bit short, fresh -- not very distinctive, still most pleasant.

Good depth, some spice, mix between red and dark berries, some minerals; decent fruit, very structured and tannic, too young.

Dark fruited, aromatic; at present rather uncharming and unbalanced. Some minerals, but apart from that just elements and structure now.

Blind. Quite developed fruit, slight camphor, very fresh but also rounded/mellow, red fruits. Did guess Beaune 2010

Hint of cloves and other spices, hairy, decent, but rather uncharming.

Sexy, deep and furry, albeit some minerals as well; in the mouth it is fresh and elegant, spices, a bit short finish though. Rating for now.

Fine wine, slight camphor, not the most distinquished.

Deep and with dark berries, serious actually. Good power, rather loose knit.

Although giving relatively little at opening it did not need much time before it evolved into a deep, nuanced and delicate wine; quite structured yet in the mouth, very fresh. Still very young and with considerable potential.

Hints of spice, pleasant, fresh.

Splendid and deep nose; fine balance, the mouth did perhaps not live up to the nose, still some generocity here.

Intriguing nose, but the mouth is dominate by astringent acidity, very tight and ungiving.

Blind. Dark fruit, a hint of rubber, smoke and minerals, pleasant but a bit short. Guessed old school Rioja.

Very sexy nose, a wonderful mix between openness and structure, sweet fruit - but tannins there.

Serious nose, alrady some complexity, dark berries; balanced in the mouth, deep, gun poder/minerals. Splendid! Quite tannic, a promises a lot.

Charming, a little short - just as my notes

Deep and furry nose, yet sexy. Just wonderful. Glad to have catched this before it (probably) closes down.

Good looking bottle with tight cork and mid neck fill, still it was tired.

Volnay can certaingly be astringen and thin. These wines were generelly not so, rather charming and elegant, some with very good depth and potential.
