Dark fruits and a firm dose of ok oak. Firm amount of bitterness and tannin. Lacks finesse at this moment. Give it another 3 - 5 years to soften a bit. 87+?
Portugal, Península de Setúbal, Vinho Regional Península de Setúbal
Special. Red as well as black fruits. Some spices. Firm, but soft tannin. Unfortunately also some dairy impressions. This should age well for another 5+ years and I have 1 bottle. Not sure if I should look forward to it.
Dark forest fruits in the bouquet as well as the taste. Luxurious toasted (French) oak. Some spiciness. Tasty and elegant with a long finish. Still youthful. 89+
Compared to the Villero and Cannubi, the Busia has the most earthy aromas. Also flowers (roses), spices, dark cherries and tar. A lot of dry and sticky tannin. Same classical and elegant style as the earlier mentioned wines. Try again in 2016.
The Bussia Riserva is the most complex wine of the four I tasted of this domain. Full bodied and complex. Earthy, roses, tar, cherries etc. A lot of good and firm tannin, but also elegant and supple. Will improve over the next 8 - 10 years. 91+
Fruity and elegant Barolo. Red as well as black forest fruits and some spiciness. Soft and round tannin. Refined wine. Can use another 4 - 5+ years of cellaring.
A somewhat sweet and fruity start with ripe red and black forest fruits. Pleasant soft and ripe tannin which offer a good bite. Complex and elegant Barolo style. Wait for another 5 - 7+ years. 90+
This is a great wine! Rustic, liquorice, black fruits, Eucalyptus etc. etc. Full bodied and a huge amount of tannin and bitterness. A mouth full of complex wine, which is still much too young. Try again in 2018 or later.
Complex bouquet with liquorice, black fruits, herbs and vanilla from the oak. Same on the palate together with an enormous dose of good tannin and bitterness. Full bodied and compact wine. Wait another 6 - 8+ years.
Beautiful combination of a rustic as well as elegant style. This was the most elegant one of the three wines I tasted of this domain. Beside all the Barolo characteristics the red fruits are dominant in this wine. Soft tannin structure. Wait 6+ years.
Even a better example yhan the Bricco Viole how to combine rusticity and elegance. Also in this wine the red berries are the most up front, but there are some black fruits as well. Herbs and all you can expect from a Barolo. Good tannin and drying in the finish. Needs another 6+ years.
Great and rustic wine. The most impressive of the three I tasted of Mario Marengo. Liquorice, black fruits, red fruits, herbs and spices, tar etc. Very good juice and a firm dose of good tannin and bitterness. Complex, firm and refined at the same time. 94 for now and in the long run that is probably one or two points too low. Will be great to taste/drink this 8 - 10+ years from now.
A child of the vintage; full bodied, supple ripe black and red berry fruits, a lot of sweetness. Silky soft tannin. Still very open and lovely drinking.
Red as well as black fruits, some spices as well. Good amount of fresh acidity. The tannin is firm and offers a pleasant bite. Will improve with a few more years of ageing.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Expressive red fruit on the nose, some meat and spices as well. On the palate black as well as red fruits. Firm and good acidity and tannin. Good concentration. Really good wine which will improve the next 3 - 5+ years.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Concentrated fruit juice. Herbs and spices. Full bodied and firm. Hidden tannin. Does not have the sweetness you would expect of this vintage and of a wine with such concentration. Difficult to score. 92 -95++ (I could not find any background information about this wine, except that the name Nolandra is a combination of the Two Quiot daughters Nolwenn and Alexandra and if I remember well, the grandmother gave them two special plots from where the grapes are harvested. If I find a correction or update I will put them in this TN as well.) I should try to lay a hand on a few bottles, because I would love to taste this some years from now.
A lot of red and black cherries as well as some spiciness. Good concentration. Pleasant harmony between acidity, soft tannin and a little sweetness. Very good basic wine.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Black cherries, herbs and spices and some licorice in the bouquet. Same on the palate. Ripe and soft tannin. Probably the most elegant Clos St. Jean I ever tasted. Modern style.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Ripe black berry fruits and cherries. More full bodied than the basic wine. Sweeter as well. Silky soft tannin. Remarkable is that, in this stage, there is hardly any spiciness. The fruit is probably overruling it. Definitely a beautiful wine.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
The Deus ex Machina is definitely (again) the most beautiful wine of this domain. Black fruits, licorice, some mocha, a lot of good spiciness, good acidity and firm tannin. Very concentrated. Reminds me of the 2003 in its youth, but is just a little leaner.
Black berries, plums and cherries. Fruit forward. Soft tannin which have some bite. There is a slight dose of oak. Overall very supple and ok, but not exiting.
Ripe cassis and black cherries, firm amount of sweetness and a pleasant dose of oak. Good balance between acidity, sweetness and bitterness. Soft tannin. Ready now and the next few years.
This is a mouth full of wine! Black as well as red berry fruits. Firm amount of sweetness. Full bodied and concentrated. Firm dose of good oak. Soft tannin. Long finish. Well balanced wine. Ready now and the next few years. Not the best qpr.
A mouth full of wine. Very concentrated. Black cherries and some spiciness in the bouquet. On the palate black fruits and some licorice. Good balance between sweetness, acidity and tannin. Still quite youthful.
A mouth full of concentrated wine. Red as well as black berry fruits in the bouquet as well as the taste. Luxurious well dosed oak. More spiciness than the Ahumada. A great wine. Still very youthful.
A mouth full of concentrated wine. This is the most beautiful and elegant of the three Single Vineyards I have tasted of Trapiche. Black as well as red berry fruits, well dosed luxurious oak, good spiciness. Beautiful balance between acidity, tannin, bitterness and a little sweetness. The least outspoken at the moment. Needs another 3+ years of ageing and can last several years longer.
Black fruits and some spiciness. A lot of sweetness and soft tannin. Full bodied and the best wine I tasted of this domain, but not really spectacular. Ready now and the next 3+ years.
Perfumed bouquet with pear, tropical flavors and some oak. Same on the palate together with soft citrus acidity. Long finish. Pleasant wine. Ready now and will improve over the next 2 years.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
Complex and elegant bouquet with red fruits and well dosed oak. Same on the palate. Firm tannin and good acidity. Rustic and tasteful. Very long finish. Probably needs another 5+ years to open up a little. Certainly a very good Burgundy. 90+
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru
A little barnyard and earthy impressions in the bouquet. Spices like clove and red fruits as well. Same on the palate. Beautiful toasted oak and full bodied. Very long finish. A great and complex wine.
Primary ripe red fruits. Some sweetness as well. The wine gets no oak ageing. Pleasant easy going wine to drink within about 4 years after the vintage.
In the bouquet black as well as red fruits and a pleasant dose of oak. Same on the palate. Quite much sweetness. Firm tannin, acidity and bitterness all in a good balance. Full bodied. The tannin promises this wine can last at least another 4 years.
The 409 means the wine had 409 days of oak ageing of which a part is new. On the palate that is hardly noticeable, because the wine still has a lot of primary very juicy fruits. The tannin is soft. Tasted this wine beside the crianza and the reserva 2006 and at this point I even like the crianza much more. Possibly more complexity will show with ageing. And considering the oak ageing and the still very primary impressions, there must be well hidden tannin. I do not score the wine for now, because that would be 85 at best, but I hope to taste this wine again after about 5 years of ageing.

Very basic wine with Pinot Noir, mostly dark, forest fruits. Ok medium bodied wine, but more like 13 in a dozen.

More full bodied than the basic wine. Ripe black forest fruits and cherries. Soft tannin. Ok, but not really special.

2006 Pagos Del Rey Ribera del Duero Condado de Oriza Reserva 88 Points
Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero
In the bouquet black as well as red fruits and a pleasant dose of oak. Same on the palate. Quite much sweetness. Firm tannin, acidity and bitterness all in a good balance. Full bodied. The tannin promises this wine can last at least another 4 years.

2008 Pagos Del Rey Ribera del Duero Condado de Oriza 409
Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero
The 409 means the wine had 409 days of oak ageing of which a part is new. On the palate that is hardly noticeable, because the wine still has a lot of primary very juicy fruits. The tannin is soft. Tasted this wine beside the crianza and the reserva 2006 and at this point I even like the crianza much more. Possibly more complexity will show with ageing. And considering the oak ageing and the still very primary impressions, there must be well hidden tannin. I do not score the wine for now, because that would be 85 at best, but I hope to taste this wine again after about 5 years of ageing.
