Bitchen nose of smoke, funk and a little barnyard. Palate of grapefruit citrus and blueberry--this is the first wine of the flight to reflect for me what Rosella's terroir is. I guessed Roar and got this one correct. My WOTF.

I really disliked the nose on this one, finally settling on two descriptors: gardenia blossom and Goodyear tire. The palate at least had some redeeming notes of berry and citrus but again that ribber tire note comes through. Did not care for this wine at all.

Dark in color, fruit driven, with a big push of plush fruit. Lacks some definition for me @ this stage but shows great potential. Guessed Bernardus, as it seemed similar in color and style to the 2004.

Most oak driven wine of the flight, according to my underscored note. Nose of sweet cinnamon, leaner in style when tasted just after the 2005 Bernardus Rosella's. Blueberry and citrus and also lightest colored wine of the flight. I liked the wine this time much better than a few months back when tasted at Jimmy D's Miner Offline.

Smoky hint on nose, juicy with citrus but for me lacks a little complexity and seems a little flat. Has much of the terroir I find for the vineyard, just not as pronounced.

Nice ripeness, probably towards the higher end of things but in check for me. Blue and black fruits, brooding in nature with some gaminess. I liked it but just liked the 2004 Arcadian Pisoni a touch more.

Joe Davis told the crowd that this wine had just been bottled about 2 weeks ago and also, funny knowing Joe, that he just didn't like the vintage. They picked some of this fruit @ 3AM back in 2004 when the temp was 83 degrees. Wow. Interestingly enough, this wine was my WOTF. Delicious with blue and black fruits, a nose with some spearmint and just lovely balance and ripeness.

Like with the other wines in the 2004 flight, again here I liked the balance. This one, though, shows more tart fruit, actually some red notes but more blue and also some structure.

Had to add the wine CT to suspect this wine is not yest released--can't recall from the producer's comments (who was in fact the Sales manager, as Bob Brosseau could not make the event). Red and blue fruit with a nice burst of blue acidity. Stony, more lithe. Nice!

I like this wine more each time I subsequently have it. This is perhaps my 3rd time tasting it this year. Blackberry and blueberry, some nice richness, fruit driven and even what I thought was a little raspberry-like acidity on the finish. My WOTF.

Joe told the audience that this wine won't even be released until September 2008--not even sure if it is bottled yet. I guessed Arcadian on this one, given the nose and color. Seemed to have a barnyard type of note on the nose, little funky. Leaner in style than compared to the 2005 Pisoni Pisoni (no surprise there), with cherry and blue fruits, along with a green apple acidity. Said Arcadian to me all the way.

Of the 16 wines presented during the event, I dumped this after one taste. For me, terrible. Brown sugar nose, with alcohol, richness and a hot finish. Bordered on syrupy for me. Bleh.

2004 Miner Family Pinot Noir Rosella's Vineyard

Light in color, with strawberry which is almost jam-like in sensation, blueberry, and what seems to be high alcochol--too much for me.
