Flight 9 (1 Note)

  • 2005 Domaine Santa Duc Gigondas Prestige des Hautes Garrigues 95 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Gigondas

The first bottle we tasted tonight was decanted early in the afternoon. Our host was curious if this early decanting had seriously influenced the way the wine tasted, so he took another bottle and we tasted it popped and poured. And indeed; the bouquet was much more youthful and did not show any tertiary impressions at all. Also on the palate this bottle was much more youthful and fresh with juicy fruits, good acidity and soft tannin. This second bottle scored 94 – 95.
