France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Rich fruit is well balanced with mineral and structured elegance. Very bright start-to-finish. Very good now with upside as the richness softens even further.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
From 3L directly from the domaine. Red cherry throughout with some Indian spice hints. There is a faint underripe note in the middle, but this finishes with charming red cherry.
Rich and very enjoyable, but there is a slightly hollow middle that follows the ripe black fruit start. Certainly easy to enjoy, but I don't see any upside from here.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Magnums directly from the domaine. Wonderfully combines rich opulence of peach and poached pear with steely minerality. If blind, I'd have thought this from a better, younger vintage.
Fresh and dried apricot with marzipan and candied orange rind. Very good flavors, but it didn't seem to have the energy on finish I tend to enjoy from great Sauternes.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
Small glass, brief note. Great depth and concentration, clearly Grand Cru. Fully evolved into a charming wine perhaps slightly past its peak, showing bittersweet mint chocolate notes. Very enjoyable.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Small glass, brief note. Black fruits with meaty character and lots of power. Slightly flashy aromas, then less flash and lots of substance and concentration on the palate. Very good length. Gevrey comes through very nicely here, with the Leroy style playing a perfect supporting role.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Richebourg Grand Cru
Initially this was thought to be dead, but I tasted it several hours after being opened and found it classically Vosne with blacker fruit and spice hints, albeit certainly very mature and advanced.

2006 Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots 92 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Black and red cherry with fully engaging Asian five spice, this seems so nicely "Vosne." Clearly ripe, but easily balanced. Wonderful right now.
