Tasting, brief note. A big step up. Meyer lemon throughout. Almost fleshy with good+ weight and very good length, finishing with a bright burst of energy.
Tasting, brief note. Bigger and also brighter, but without the same level of fruit or density, so ever-so-slightly less interesting. Still very good, and certainly better in another few years.
Tasting, brief note. Great floral nose with apple and lemon plus an implication of structure that is clearly present, but so elegant with rounded edges and very good concentration. So good now, with upside.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Tasting, brief note. Red and black cherry comes across as very accessible and very charming, but also in a light style that wouldn’t make me think of Gevrey.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges
Tasting, brief note. Also more red vs black fruits that didn’t immediately bring its terroir to mind. Still, this is bright, well balanced and fun now. Probably best to drink young, 2020-2030.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Red and black cherry with faint roasted beef. Good balance, but lacking the depth in the middle I expect from Pruliers, but still fun now.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Tasting, brief note. Lots of red cherry with some black cherry hints. Moderate concentration coming through today, especially in light of the 100 yo vine age, but I expect this will put in weight in bottle. Very good balance and textures. This hints at complexity, but is hard to read today. Good 89-90 point potential, 2025-.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet
Tasting, brief note.Fleshy and rich apple and pear with wonderful weight and length for its level. Subtle background spice hints. Great balance, this will drink wonderfully right out of the gate. 88-90 point potential.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Tart apple with good+ weight. Bigger and texturally very exciting, but just a bit firm for now. That's Vergers. Hold to 2025-, 90-91+ point potential.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Cross-section of apple aromas and flavors with mint and spice throughout. Extroverted for Ramonet, this is nearly fleshy and very tasty right now with very good length.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
Tasting, brief note. Lush and ripe apple and apricot with floral, mint and spice throughout. Excellent density, even for Grand Cru, with structure that easily keeps this in balance. Very good now, with great 94-95 point potential.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. All red cherry with spice hints. Rich for Chassagne rouge. Good+ concentration, clearly at 1er Cru level. Balanced and fun already now, with upside.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Very floral with apple aromas that continue onto the palate with peach hints at the beginning, then getting brighter and leaner middle towards the end, finishing with some brightening lemon/ lime. Very good combination of ripe and tart. Good now with upside, 91-92 point potential.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Floral and ripe orchard fruit aromas, then less ripe on the palate with some bitter pith character at its very finish. Not quite yet harmonized to me, but good potential.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Also nicely floral with apple and almond butter, finishing with a bit of peach as well. Moderately ripe with good+ density and length. A little backward now, but I like the 90+ point upside here.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Tasting, brief note. Even more intensely floral with spice, apple and candied lemon peel. Rich start, then both tart and sweet on very long finish. Great nose is so enticing, palate almost holds up to that standard. Already so good, but this needs a few years in the cellar to show its full 94+ point potential.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet
Tasting, brief note. From three parcels just below 1er Cru. Fleshy and dense, wonderfully for its level, with impressive structure as well. Great balance, so tasty now. 89-90 point potential, an excellent Villages level wine. I believe this will be labeled as "Chambrees" but am not certain.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note.Floral with green and yellow apple. Ripe fruit starts, gets gradually leaner towards its long, minerally finish that provides such an elegant, happy ending. I liked this a lot.
Tasting, brief note. Ripe hints on nose with red cherry and berry. Similar flavors, but lighter than the aromatics imply. I think using partial whole cluster might not have worked well here.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet
Tasting, brief note. Lush peach and baked apple aromas with similar flavors showing good+ weight, good length. Simple and rich finish isn't complex and slightly New World-ish, but still certainly fun for near-term enjoyment.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Fully engaging aromas with ripe apple and some peach along with nearly sweet spice. Similar flavors with good depth and a bright finish. Better to cellar another year or two.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Similar profile to the Garenne just tasted but with more textural complexity and more vibrant minerality throughout. Very good length.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Tasting, brief note. A very clear step up with very good concentration, while also very well balanced, something I find less and less with today's generation of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Good+ weight and good length. We were told this is 55% Mourvedre and 55% Grenache, which must account for that impressive concentration.
Tasting, brief note. In the middle of Côte-Rôtie, near Landonne. Black plum and meaty with a complex array of sweet and savory spice. So powerful to start, then much more elegant and texturally complex middle-through-finish.
Tasting, brief note. Further north. Dense and meaty with impressive concentration and depth, but a little backward vs some of the other single vineyard cuvees, so coming across now as less complex, but hinting at impressive potential.
Tasting, brief note. Even further north on the Côte. Very powerful and burly with black fruit and lots of structure. So much here, but this needs another decade in the cellar.
Tasting, brief note. Also firm and tannic like the last couple of cuvees just tasted, while also texturally bright and exciting right now. Still just hinting at its potential, but there is a clear path to greatness here.
Tasting, brief note. Some Viognier. Black and red cherry with black pepper, anise and rare roast beef hints. Very complex start with power emerging on very long finish. So much here now, but better to cellar for a decade, 2028-.
Tasting, brief note. So much ere on both nose and palate. Black and red cherry with black plum and very complex spice. Dense and meaty, while also showing incredibly elegant tannins. Never backward, but still better to cellar 2025-. My favorite of the lineup, again preferring this slightly over the Bell. e Hélène
Tasting, brief note. Apple, pear and poached pear. Rich throughout with savory character from the start through the middle, then a burst of sweetness on the finish that I didn't enjoy quite so much. Needs time?
Tasting, brief note. Easily my favorite of the lineup. Rich stone fruit with some tropical hints showing hints of sweetness while barely being sweet. Good weight, better length with an intriguing mineral character on its finish.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Rich apple with toasted almonds. Good weight and length with even better balance. Fun already now, with probably some limited upside.
Tasting, brief note. Current release. 90% Pinot Noir, 10% Pinot Gris. Very berry, very nice with rounded textures throughout, bright finish. Nice and enjoyable, if slightly simple.
Tasting, brief note. Plenty of apple, some lemon, some toasted rye bread. Very bright but the extreme dryness keeps it from quite being "90 points" for me, but I can understand others would enjoy this more.
Tasting, brief note. All Chardonnay from a single lieu-dit with zero dosage. Bone crushing dryness isn't exactly my style, but this is very good in its style. Presents Chardonnay precisely and nicely.
Tasting, brief note. A really exciting wine if you like low dosage (this has 2g). Rich and very concentrated with apple and toasted baguette. Very long finish.
