France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru
From Coravin. Savoury, meaty, touch gamey over pretty blackberry with cream, a little red currant here as well which grows with time. In the mouth it's sourly juicy, savoury, tannins are a little hard and bitter, touches of fruit tea for me; raspberry and red currant. Hmm.
On the basis of the above note I took this along for supper with friends a few days later - it was matched to duck salad - it showed red currant, a little rhubarb and a little whole bunch. The whole bunch translated to the palate, juicy but with grainy, talc textured tannins that grabs at the tongue. Hmm.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru
From Coravin. Toast, coffee, caramel, oak showing over red and black fruits with a little meaty underpin and a touch of butter/cream. The palate is very much a reflection of the nose; oak, ripe fruit, lees work, tannins are supportive and the whole is integrated and balanced...hitting it's straps. Pleasing.
From Coravin. Slight leather, caramel, slight cranberry and rhubarb, Asian five spice, with time the fruit gains weight and darkness. Riper than the Rossignols, though the fruit does have some fresh wild sourness to it. A bit of leather and oak here, tannins are present but quite soft and in more of a support role. Feels like it's coming together. Nice.
From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas of biscuit, earth, slight bacon fat, red currant and unripe blackcurrant. Juicy, flavours are just the right side of sour for me and equally muted on the palate, tannins are drying and floury textured. Hmm.
From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas of dark hued fruit berries over currants, a little sweet spice, brambles, a little forest floor, bacon fat, cedar. Juicy, savoury, dark fruits and plentiful talc textured and drying tannins, a little bitterness on the finish. Hmm.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru
From Coravin. Ooh, tinned peas, dusty and earthy, a herbaceous element that translates into stalky notes with a saline underpin with time. There is some red fruit here as well on the nose. Still very stalky on the palate with grippy, grainy tannins, fruit is very hidden but red hued, softly yielding. This is probably the best tasting I've had of this wine.
From Coravin. Aromas of brambles, earth, slight sweet spice and, with time, a little polished blackberry and oak with a chalky underpin. In the mouth it is juicy, fleshy, the fruit is present, generous, a little oak support, tiny mid palate burr, touches of sous bois. Moving along nicely. Lovely.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru
From Coravin. Slightly metallic, cream soda, jubey notes show raspberry, Asian five spice and bonfire as well as a little wood glue with time. It's juicy, fleshy and more savoury on the palate. The fruit proves a little dilute, grainy but medium minus intensity tannic grip. Hmm.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune
From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas of struck match, bacon fat, red and blackberry, slight meaty notes. Juicy acid, a little wild sour red fruit, quite grainy tannins...Meh. Perhaps a bucket load of tertiary characteristics will raise the interest levels?
From Coravin. Cream, oak, cherry; a little maraschino note, touch of wood glue and cedar. Medium plus intensity acidity, more savoury black cherry as well maraschino in the mouth with slight salinity and some mid-palate burr. Hmm.
From Coravin. Ripe wild red and black fruits, a little Bretty farmyard note, sweet spice, a little struck match. Fresh, juicy and fleshy on the palate, silky tannic burr, fruit is similar to the nose; ripe but not over-extracted. Long. Nice.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
From Coravin. Sous bois, very slight dusty notes, baking spices, old black berry, leather, earth, with time the fruit gains weight. Surprisingly fruit sweet on the palate, a little raw silk rasp on the mid palate. Sous bois and leather join on the finish. Pleasant.
From Coravin. Bold dark fruits especially plums, touch of fruit tea, black raspberry, polished oak, a sense of density and weight is implied by the nose. A little wood glue. Juicy, medium plus intensity acidity, the fruit is very present, plenty of drying, chalky and slightly coarse and hard tannic grip. it's a bit foursquare though the impression of the fruit lingers though. Time. Nice.
From Coravin. Stalky notes lends a touch of almost formic acid, spiced, more red than black fruit. Juicy acid, toast and biscuit as well as stalks, red and black plum, chalky tannins, long, palate more pleasing than the nose, plenty of time left. Okay.
From Coravin. Aromas of plums, sweet spcie, slight red berry and herbaceous underpin, fresh tilled earth, cedar and a tiny touch of rhubarb. Medium plus intensity acidity with smoky notes, rhubarb and plums in the mouth, silky, floury textured tannins support the fruit. Young and primary but balanced. Good complexity considering price point. Nice
From Coravin. medium minus intensity aromas of plums, cream, plenty of sweet spice with a little cocoa powder dusting. Surprisingly bold and rich on the palate showing plums, sweet spice, alcohol warmth on the back palate, tannins are a little chalky. Young. Hmm.
From Coravin. A little farmyard, red & blackcurrant, fresh earth, savoury spice, brambles and band aid on the nose. Equally Bretty on the palate, tannins are fine grained, a little cream lends a tiny cassis touch to the blackcurrant. Nice if Brett doesn't bother you - it doesn't bother me so this is nice...
From Coravin. On the nose it shows biscuit, cream, blackcurrant, polished oak, baking spice, plums...It's juicy and generously fruited on the palate, tannins are persistent, drying but chamois soft in texture, beautifully integrated for such a young wine. Yum.
From Coravin. Dusty, savoury, brambles, wild blackcurrant, forest, a touch of bay leaf. Medium plus intensity acidity with fleshy wild black fruits, lashing of pleasing tannic grip goes hand in hand with this. Long. Nice.
