Double decanted off its sediment, remaining under cork until just before it was served double blind to the group about one hour later.
Mostly rainisn and prune qualities. There are a couple of brief fleeting moments where there’s some floral and red berry notes but not enough of those moments to make this enjoyable.

Double blind. Starts with a smoky molasses aroma, followed by black cherry and spice tones. Becomes more red fruited as it sits in the glass. Juicy cherry and red berry fruit on the palate with soft spice and nice acidity. Excellent, but I would not have guessed Burgundy. Great raw materials, but I would hold this a while and wait for its true character to reveal itself. (J&L)

Double blind. Lighter in color, this looks like it has a little bit of age. Aromas of red berry fruit with baking spice overtones. Medium bodied, with red berry fruit and spice on the palate and bright acidity. (R&D)

Blind. Opens with aromas of cherry and sweet tea. With time in the glass this develops ripe red cherry fruit and orange Life Saver aromas and flavors. Picks up white pepper qualities on the palate and the fruit remains fresh and vibrant. In a great place right now.

Double blind, but immediately recognizable as a truly bottle. The opaque inky color combined with the blackberry aromas and flavors make this easy to pick out as petite. It’s been a long time since I have had a Turley, and I have to admit I found this very enjoyable. (V&M)

Blind. Aromas of boysenberry, spice, black cherry, wild strawberry and rhubarb. Medium bodied. Abundant red and black fruit on the palate with hints of white pepper and spice carrying through the finish. A bit deeper and more complex than the 2011 in the first flight. This was our last bottle and I’m sad to see it go as there’s plenty of life left in this.

Double blind. Smells of dried meat with dark fruit and a bit of earth. On the palate, there’s the unmistakable flavor of cork taint. Odd that we didn’t detect it in the bouquet, but it’s definitely there. (M&R)

Double blind. Grapey aromas lead the way followed by ripe dark fruit and a touch of earthy funk. Pomegranate and dark jammy fruit on the palate, with a subtle herbal note in the background. (V&M)

Double blind. Aromas of rose hip, bouillon and dark fruit. Big ripe dark fruit on the palate with chalky tannin. Develops an herbal edge and retains the riper fruit profile. Perhaps just a bit hollow through the midpalate, but decent. (J&L)

Double blind. Opaque inky purple color. Aromas of dark fruit and blackberry. Much of the same on the palate, picking up some chocolate qualities as it opens in the glass. Balanced. Guessed petite. (R&S)

Double blind. Inky opaque color. Aromas of blue and black fruits follow through on the palate. Medium tannin. The color and fruit says petite though it's not quite that big. Has a pretty floral undertone. Excellent. (R&S)

Double decanted a little over three hours before it was served double blind to the group just before dinner was served.
Light color. Aromas of white currant and red berry fruit. The palate mirrors the bouquet. Lighter in body than one expects in a cabernet but the fruit is very bright and there’s good underlying acidity. Good.

Double decanted off its sediment about three hours before dinner, remaining under cork until service. Dark plummy fruit and leather aromas. Tannins are nearly fully integrated. Plush and full, with plum and black fruit and a nice green herbaceous streak. Excellent.

Standard bottle, popped and poured. White currant, plum and cherry notes with warm spice undertones. Currant and berry fruit, just a touch hot. Could have used a decant. Still on the young side. (R&D)

2015 Chasing Harvest Douro Vinho Branco 80 Points
Portugal, Douro
Double blind. Deep yellow color. Simple and rather generic, with orchard fruit tones on the nose and palate. There’s decent acidity carrying through the finish. Has a little weight to it in terms of texture. Guessed Spanish. (M&R)

Double blind. Similar to warm up one with a fairly deep color and aromas of orchard fruit. Apple and lemon verbena on the palate. Also weighty on the palate, with nice acidity. I prefer this to the first, but only slightly. Guessed Spanish. (M&R)

2010 R. López de Heredia Rioja Blanco Reserva Viña Tondonia Flawed
Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alta, Rioja
Double blind. Lighter color than the first two wines with a bouquet and taste of funky cheese, perhaps not as pungent as an Époisses, but you see where I’m going with this. (M&R)
