All wines tasted blind - for most of the tasters they were double blind. Only the vintage was known and that they were Burgundies + 3 Swiss Pinot Noirs. The German was a surprise for all.
The flights were put together randomly.
2012 Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru
Blind.
Nose: fruit and floral, with a touch of game, evolving towards licorice.
Sweet entry, with fine tannins, mineral and a touch of "sauvage". It's rich (the richest of the flight), but remains elegant, and has the most tannins.

2012 Domaine Chandon de Briailles Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Ile des Vergelesses
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru
N: this is more closed. The fruit is there but sublimated. Very elegant. On day two it showed spices (cloves) mixed with game notes. Special and lovely.
Direct and vertical on the palate, very elegant, with fine tannins which came out only towards the end.
On day two the spices became more prominent on the palate too. Mineral and deep with very fine tannins. Very long finish on earthy notes.

2012 Domaine Michel Lafarge Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
N: this was also quite reserved, but was more on herbs and mineral notes.
On the palate it seemed light compared to the other two, almost simple. But it showed a lovely structure withe very fine tannins.
Day 2:
N: cherries and blackberries, earthy and elegant, with broth and balsamic notes.
On the palate it is straight and narrow, almost austere - not lively.
Finish is slightly salty. It has substance and power, but is austere.
