Sourced from Ce Qu'il Faut Déguster in Reims in 2019. Bready nose with some currants that on the nose almost point me to stollen. Some fresh ginger and a little sesame cracker too. Palate has some sliced apple and is very long with some lemony bitterness. 5g / litre dosage.
Lemon and pumice stone here, hints of cashew with some air. Beautiful chalkiness. Fresh and delightfully dry. With air some hints of peony and a couple of PPM of blood orange. 3 g / litre dosage.
Bright cherry fruit, some smoky fig too. Palate finely tannined but, for me, these are not fully resolved quite yet. Real savouriness to the palate. With an hour in the glass suggestions of Madeira cake on the nose.
Nose a little soupier that the Gaja this is served with. Some well polished dresser and some roasted chestnuts. Fine tannins. With air it gains focus and some roses emerge. Lovely acidity.
Some truffle and licorice, some roasting juices and, with air, a couple of PPM of grapefruit juice. After an hour in the glass the licorice really deepens and the palate tightens somewhat.
Iodine, redcurrants and sweet pastry on the nose almost into Bakewell territory. Palate fresh and, for me, the palate with the most to say this evening. Tannins for once fully resolved. Acidity absolutely à point and great mouthfeel. My wine of the night.
This is a game of two halves. First 45 mins it's playing slowly out from the back and I'm unmoved. Expected goals. Zip. Then after the break much less aloof; there is still an olive brine and caper salinity but it becomes more impressive; some cassia bark syrup, conkers and meat juices. Tannic but once senses more to show in the years ahead.
A generously opened additional bottles from the cellars. It's tight and so young for a wine of its age but there are some delightful red fruit, thyme and smoky notes on pouring. With air a little rosehip and some slightly high toned strawberry. Some caper too. Palate is more open than some but still on the tight side. Quite cerebral for me.
Peanut shell, pomegranate, some balsamic notes and a little green tobacco. With air a little meatiness. Still very tannic and needs time to show anything on the palate.
Nutty edge to the nose. Camphor and stewed plums. Some nail polish and kirsch notes. Palate peppery and long with hints of sweet shop cherry cola sour.
Youthful, dark fruited with hints of cashew brittle on the nose. Tannins are slowly melding, some more Cherry Tune hints. With air suggestion of grated dark milk chocolate and basil oil on the nose.
Had a half of this in Jan and this is so youthful by comparison. Intense lemon curd, passionfruit coulis and lime juice nose. With air some pineapple, and almond hints emerge. Very enjoyable stuff.
