Good Barolo and Barbaresco (67 Pall Mall): What a nose! Sundried tomato and touches of truffle and volatile acidity made for a tempting and complex combination. Also well-resolved and savoury on the palate, which was really lovely. Definitely the least exciting in the flight, but that's only relative: this showed very well, and was another great advert for ageing wine.

Nick’s Barolo and Barbaresco (67 Pall Mall, London): Medium garnet. Attractive nose, red and darker fruit, slightly minty and herbal with some tar and smoke too. Medium bodied, has lovely energy, spicy red fruits, savoury notes, very fine tannins, vibrant acids, some saline notes on the good length finish. Excellent.

Surprised to see that there hasn't been a TN in more than two years. This is a mature Barbaresco, so I don't see any further upside to aging this, but it also doesn't feel like it's in any danger of imminent decline either. It has an autumnal feel to the nose, with red fruit and a hint of decay. Still decent acidity on the palate. Nice.

Nick's "Good Barolo and Barbaresco" Dinner - Friday 22 March, 67 Pall Mall; 3/24/2024-3/25/2024 (67 Pall Mall): A burlier wine than the Gaja and Giacosa before it. Forest floor, some conifer, slightly medicinal. I enjoyed this more on its own after some time away from the Gaja and Giacosa.

Nick A's "Good Barolo and Barbaresco" at 67 PM (67 Pall Mall, London): Some truffle and licorice, some roasting juices and, with air, a couple of PPM of grapefruit juice. After an hour in the glass the licorice really deepens and the palate tightens somewhat.
