Flight 1 (3 Notes)

  • 2000 Prager Riesling Smaragd Trocken Weissenkirchnen Klaus 90 Points

    Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau

Lightly yellow color. Perfumed aromas are finely interleaved with slate and flint. Some grapefruit on the palate and a rubber noter like bicycle hose on the midpalate. After openning up in the glass for a while the fruit gains a bit more weight, coming nicely together.

Flight 2 (1 Note)

  • 2006 Sine Qua Non Autrement Dit 93 Points

    USA, California

Plush dark pink color a little like raw tuna. At first the nose is dominated by crème fraîche, but gains more fruit with some air, like a soured whole milk sprinkled with blueberries, forrest berries and redcurrant. Powerful and full bodied on the palate, quite exagerated for a rosé. Tastes of rhubarp and some strawberry, notes of pepper and herbes de Provence. The alcohol is clearly present on the finish. Weird for a rosé, but quite nice if compared to a really warm vintage Chateauneuf du Pape.

Flight 3 (2 Notes)

  • 2005 Sine Qua Non Grenache Atlantis Fe2O3~2a, b & c 96 Points

    USA, California

Clear black color with a purple rim. Intense nose with many ripe aromas, blueberries, plum, liqeuer, pepper, licorise, ammonium chloride and a bit of dried fruit. Wild wine, blueberries, blackberries and plum tamed in a great structure. Very nice notes of pepper, licorise and prunes on the midpalate. Very long aftertaste. Insanely intense over the palate, but amazing superbly balance which gives this powerhouse of fruit a clean cut and precise expression. What an archivement!

USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley

Clear dark red color with a purple rim. Aromas of ripe plums, pepper, alcohol and a bit of meat. Very intense on the palate, very ripe and juicy plum fruit, with some pepper and spice on the midpalate, before getting the jammy, Zinfandel butter and glycerine on the finish.

  • 2002 Scholium Project Proserpina Maldonado Los Olivos 90 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

Unfiltered, unclear murky red. Solvent, chemical, kirsch, liqeuer and potent raisins on the nose. Weirdness in a bottle. Reminds me of a Amarone with cherry and raisin, but somehow more tight and subdued. Some sweetness is present. Many elements are present, but at first very disjointed. With some air things came a bit together and started showing more wine-like features - cherry fruit - and less solvent. Lots of character in this one.

Amber golden color. Elegant, fragile nose with notes of mushroom, gasolin, minerals and some coconut shell. On the palate it has a very nice balance between sweetness and acidity in a manner that makes it elegant and refined. Notes of candied fruits, apricots, coconut and caramel. Youthfull with intact fruit and freshness.

  • 1989 Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Beerenauslese 96 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

Amber golden color. Intense nose with karamel, candied exotic fruit, apricot, coconut and a bit of mushroom. Very intense sweetness on the palate, but the intens acidity makes it light on its feet. Thick oily mouthfeel with notes of honey, delicious fruit, pineapple and apricot. On the midpalate more tertiary notes show up, minerals, slate and benzine. Very long aftertaste with great concentration. It is amazing how elegant and at the same time intensely sweet and honeyed this wine is.
