oh my, this is quite lovely, and a great example of the cru. Wonderful oxidative nose notes, but the fruit js fresh and lively..all undercut with great minerality. this was wonderful.

9/6/2021 3:29:00 PM - I believe the fruit is in balance with the oxidative notes. I have additional bottles, but will try to consume in the next 5-7 years. 2006 is a great vintage, so, they should go longer if stored properly. All of my bottles have been stored at 52 degrees.

Very impressive. Dense, structured and muscular, this tasted more like a wine from the CdN than CdB.
Smoky, ripe red and blue fruits. Almost new world like upon opening, it slowly evolved beautifully in the glass. There's a very nice underlying minerality and sappiness.

Base 2007.
Really took a while to open up. Very different from the Brut. More acidty, linear and more mineral. Not so much honey and brioche notes but it shows more steely, lemon/green apple with some subtle red fruits.
Decant is needed here.

The bouquet is a bit locked, but also perfumed with earth, minerals and iron. On the palate juicy red berries and cherries, some leather, good acidity and slightly sticky tannin. Overall an elegant wine and for a 2010 already quite soft. 89 - 90

(magnum) A story about the greatness that is Burlotto, and the greatness of the Langhe and of the Nebbiolo grape, all in one book. But to power read this book would be to miss the point. Let me explain. I opened this on Friday morning, left in decanter for 10 hours before returning to bottle and serving the following day at 2pm. Yes, the wine was nice, it showed well, as expected, but it didn't wow me, and it wasn't overly memorable. But, by the final chapter, some 5 days later, the last 1/3 of the bottle (stored at room temp, mind you) was just out of this world good. Such elegance, with depth and beauty to spare. I was not worthy then, and can't say I am now. Bravo to all on the Burlotto team, this was such a memorable experience. Thru 2035; no problem, I should think. highly recommended

Grazie mille, Fabio!

Definitely Bruna's best effort to date. These wines are progressively getting better year after year and this wine is excellent. More traditional in style with clean Nebbiolo fruit and brooding tannins. One of the best affordable Baroli on the market. She should be on more people's radar as her star continues to climb.

A beast of a wine given the appellation. And yet very true to the variety and region. Blueberry, tobacco, umami, mint and cola qualities aromatically. Chunky, black and blue fruit flavors on the attack, but more earthy, and mineral driven on the finish with a huge tobacco imprint. Has the purity of a wine with minimal/zero oak imprint, but also some of the rustic blockiness to the mid palate and tannins. Almost Rhone-like in intensity, acidity and fruit ripeness, yet very much a Cab Franc.

I would not be surprised if this ages for another decade as its in no way nearing tired or dried out. On the other hand, this is likely to always be a wine with rough edges rather than an ethereal, elegant one.

From magnum left in cellar. Unknown date disgorgement (though label has inscription "LB03" and bottle bought appx. '05 or '06). Magnificent, well balanced. Refreshing acidity and fine balance facilitated guzzling but contemplation showed good complexity. A good example of why cellaring good NV champagne can be so satisfying.

I like this young and powerful barolo. Red and dark fruit, with flowers, dk. spices, and wood notes. Good acidity and square tannins in need of cellaring. I am putting these away. I am a fan but this is about the future, and what a future this barolo will have.

This is a wonderful offering from the truly great Nada Fiorenzo.
It is very young, but already very drinkable. Lots of air opens it perfectly. Two hours of decanting and drunk over several hours it just keeps opening with voluptuous dark fruit and herbal balsamic notes.
Firm, cool, clean, deep dark fruit and a weightlessness as the usual NF signature.
If the house is unfamiliar - this is the place to start.

Enjoyed this a lot over the course of the evening. Had some stemmy/plummy notes at first that seemed to freshen up to feature some nice floral accents along with some berries. Undertones of wet earth emerged, too, which I liked. Great structure is present, so there's plenty of life ahead of this one.
