3/8/2024 - jonnysandwich Likes this wine: 93 pointsQuite special. Olive tapenade that gives way to crackling pie fruit--the nose smells like charred sugar and blackberry--and ends with a bright, mineral finish, like sucking on a tart penny. I'm not sure if this is SO much better than the label's cheaper Laurel to deserve the price tag, but the flavors here are a lot stronger, and after two hours or so they balance out marvelously. This is kind of like Laurel's snooty older sister--a bit more refined, with more delicate fruit and savory notes, and less herbal energy. It's possible that I drank this a little young as well--I'd like to taste Clos Eramus at the 10 year point for a comparison. But either way this is damn fine juice from one of the world's finest vintners. |

2/19/2024 - Barry Notes Likes this wine: 95 pointsGRAND TASTING #2: Decanted for 2 hrs. 90 mins glass time. Clear, dark purple/red color. Med, concentrated Grenache nose. This is great stuff. Superbly balance/integrated, med/full body, bacon, red fruit, black cherry, silky, smooth, rich, seamless, merlot-like, soft edges, resolved tannins, very long proper finish. Not hot or extracted. No reason to wait although this will keep a long time yet. Outstanding juice, nothing off. |

2/8/2024 - JonBarnes1 Likes this wine: NRMore polished than the prior vintage. Still young and primary, easy to drink and hard to resist. Red and black fruits wound tightly into a light body for a Priorat. Still a mouthful. Balanced acidity gives it energy. Roadside herbs and spices are there but are yet to move to foreground. Tannins hidden. Just the slightest bit of mustiness on the nose though. Medium short finish. |

2/3/2024 - Brian of Mull Likes this wine: 95 pointsI am trying my 2nd bottle of this. Opened for 4 hours. On the nose: Black Cherry, vanilla, cinnamon, cola and plum with some alcohol heat. On the palate: Black cherry, licorice, dark chocolate, plum and baking spices. Very long and sensual. Big alcohol but really a great flavor profile. |

1/21/2024 - Musigny1955 Likes this wine: 98 points[Cellared since release, either 6 or 12 bottles, #1 of these, perfect fill, cork in excellent shap] Straight from cellar, PopNPour. Celestial nose, incredibly balanced fruit and suave minerality. Impeccable balance. Nose explodes, aristocratic, mid palate goes forever, initially very airien wine that just seems to smell and taste someplace in the Heavens in terms of aromatics, lift, plate presence... can't believe this is 15% alcohol. Nose is llicorice soil, impeccably ripe fruit, sophisticated like a Grands Echezeaux or Musigny. at 30 minutes: Foreplate is now gallpin along with winsome fruit. Unreal. I had to pour a glass for my spouse and tell myself to stop drinking the wine. At 60-90 minutes - "retried, astonishingly huge fruit has come forward, totally compelling. In addition some of the minerals are peeking through the waves of fruit and soil. This wine has everything. Unbelievable." |

1/4/2024 - Ex-Ray Likes this wine: 100 pointsProbably the best Clos Erasmus I've had. Full, rich aromas of mostly black fruits, with wonderful concentration and complexity of aromas and flavors and the tannin completely resolved. Tasted blind, guessed either a great Napa cab or Spanish. No need to age further. |

12/25/2023 - jesseminc@gmail.com Likes this wine: 92 pointsVery nice, but did not live up to the hype. Kept the bottle for 10 years at ideal conditions. Perfect cork. Earthy Grenache nose with musky and floral undertones. Spicy on the palate. But faded a little over the three hours of drinking. Maybe I waited a couple years too long to drink it. I prefer the wines of the Rhône valley, which I put in a similar category to Priorato in terms of character. |

10/10/2023 - drwine2001 wrote: NRA special bottling of just 450 bottles (100% Grenache) in honor of the late proprietor of Blackberry Farm in Tennessee. Decanted 2 1/2 hours earlier. Bright ruby/purple. Some VA, pine, and vibrant red fruit. Perfect medium weight with succulent yet exceedingly elegant black raspberry, citrus, outstanding acidity, and a subtle hint of soil. Light tannins, spicy finish. The purity and delicacy made me utter the R word-Rayas. Unlike the larger scaled Clos Erasmus wines I’ve tasted before, and just fantastic for capturing the essence of Grenache without any of the heaviness that sometimes goes along with old vine versions of this grape. This is not built for the long term but is pretty special now. |
